Myanmar military plays hard ball

A 10-hour standoff between police and a shooting suspect barricaded in a northeast Oklahoma City house ended peacefully about 6:35 p.m. Thursday, nearly two hours after police fired a gas canister into the residence. police arrested 55-year-old John Ivory Thomas after he surrendered.

Myanmar’s military government seized U.N. aid shipments Friday meant for a multitude of hungry and homeless survivors of last week’s devastating cyclone, forcing the world body to suspend further help.

Oil prices neared $126 per barrel Friday on the eve of the U.S. driving season as a weakening U.S. dollar drove investors to snap up commodities.

I think its unbelievable that the junta went on with the referendum while claiming they could organise the relief effort themselves. Hopefully the deaths of all these people won’t be in vain and this will be the start of the end for the Junta
