‘Christmas on Mars’ set to debut. Really?

Check out Oklahoma Rock Newsblog, they have the following post today, including trailer, outtakes and interesting comments:

Christmas on Mars, the Chinese Democracy of Martian Christmas movies, is expected to premiere this month. We’re serious.

There are only two showings scheduled (May 25 at Sasquatch! & June 14 at Bonnaroo), but more showings are in the works.

One comment says the Flaming Lips’ long awaited movie will be played Friday, June 13 at Oklahoma’s own deadCENTER Film Fest. Check the complete schedule for more event info.

Raw video: Philly cops fight with suspects

Check out this wire story from Philadelphia, watch the video below:

A half-dozen police officers kicked and beat three men pulled from a car during a traffic stop as a TV helicopter taped the confrontation.

The video, shot by WTXF-TV, shows three police cars stopping a car Monday, two days after a city officer was shot to death responding to a bank robbery.

The tape shows about a dozen officers gathering around the vehicle. About a half-dozen officers hold two of the men on the ground. Both are kicked repeatedly, while one is seen being punched; one also appears to be struck with a baton.

The third man is also kicked and ends up on the ground.

Paul celebrates B-day; Kobe wins MVP

On the day Chris Paul turned 23, Kobe Bryant won the NBA’s MVP award. And well deserved from my biased Laker point of view.

Paul finished second and could have won the award judging by his amazing season, unmatched point guard play and leading the Hornets – the Hornets?! – into the Western Conference semifinals.

Kobe meanwhile continues to be the best player in the game. And like all our heroes, he has his flaws.

Michael Ventre, the MSNBC columnist, has a well written, accurate view of Kobe, pros and cons.

Happy birthday Chris Paul

Chris Paul, the Hornets all world point guard, turns 23 today. That’s amazing. How good is this guy already?

NBA.com, which always does a great job covering the league, has a live blog from the Hornets-Spurs series. The Hornets are making the Spurs look old. Same thing they did to the Mavericks in the first round.
