How to de-ice a plane

So last night, I’m sitting on the runway (in a plane) in Denver. It’s snowing like a madman and the snow is actually piling up on the wing. You might have made a small snowman out of it.

We had some serious turbulence coming out of Vegas en route to Denver. Not a pleasant flight at all. Then we arrive to a snow storm in Denver, where it was cold enough to see your own breath as you exited the plane.

We finally board the delayed flight and notice all the snow on the plane’s wings. And then they pull us up to a row of trucks that looked like the monster from War of the Worlds.

I’ve flown planes that have been de-iced before. And it’s more than a little unsettling. So I whipped out the iPhone and took pictures.

Who likes beer?

Line of the day (so far) is from the Top Chef podcast I produced an hour ago: “if you’re pairing something with beer, why not pair a beer with two more?”

Classic stuff. The line refers to last night’s Top Chef episode where the chefs were challenged to prepare a meal that would go well with beer.

We produce numerous podcasts every week at OPUBCO. Podcasts include countless sports shows like today’s Press Row episode, where Mike Sherman, Berry Tramel, Jenni Carlson and Brandon Chatmon talked everything OSU and even did some role play.

NOTE: Pardon the audio levels when clicking on the podcast links in this blog. We really need a compressor.

Press Row: OSU Hiring

I also produced the Top Chef and Idol Chatter: American Idol podcasts this afternoon. Note how they really have fun doing these podcasts. And that’s the way it should be. Have fun. You watch TV, you talk about it. Relate it to others. That’s the power and beauty of the Internet.

You don’t have to be a Media Analyst to talk about American Idol. You don’t need to be a gourmet chef to talk about Top Chef. I mean, maybe a healthy appreciation for food, or beer, would help.

Bryan Dean, Carrie Coppernoll and Dave Cathey reviewed last night’s Top Chef episode:

Top Chef podcast

Mike Koehler and Ja’Rena Lunsford provide perhaps the most light hearted and funniest podcast of them all. Check out the fun they have while talking American Idol. On the downside, after 1.5 years this is Lunsford’s last podcast as she is leaving the business desk for, well, other work.
