Behind the scenes with Elephant Nation
This week, we launched the Elephant Nation page on NewsOK. The OKC Zoo has elephants, but they are leaving. Not on an unhappy trip though:
“The elephants leave in June to breed with a male at the Tulsa Zoo. Their return hinges on two timelines: conception and construction.”
The Oklahoman’s Carrie Coppernoll was the lead reporter on this assignment. At first, she scheduled a studio intervew with the interim zoo director. Then she took her camera to the zoo. Paige Dillard and Chase Estus went on a third video interview with Carrie back at the zoo.
As it turned out, we have six videos ranging from interviews with a man who trained the elephants when they were young to a history of elephants in OKC.
Just wait until we add the Elephant ringtone.
Tim Gunn in OKC
Tim Gunn, of Bravo TV’s Project Runway fame, will be at Quail Springs Mall in OKC today at noon. Gunn of course will be at the Liz Claibourne area of Dillard’s.
Make it work.
UPDATE: Tim Gunn spoke with Angi Bruss about 45 minutes before the fashion show. We’ll have video from today’s event next week.
Gunn is as down to earth and bigger than life in person as he is on TV. Very personable. Very gracious in his interview. And so were the Liz Claibourne (thanks to Frankie for helping arrange the interview) and the Dillard’s crew.
A large crowd was there early in anticipation of the reality celeb. We showed before noon, the actual fashion show with Gunn happened at 1 p.m.
More Project Runway blogs, including Tim Gunn’s blog. And this blog and more.
