Oklahoma Matters

We did something a little different with Ed Kelley’s Oklahoma Matters today.

First, we used the segment to promote The Oklahoman’s football section. It hits newsstands and driveways Sunday.

During the segment, we used video from Nate Billings’ Oklahoma Focus segment from last week. Nate, one of The Oklahoman’s photographers, described what equipment he used, and why, for the black and white photos used in the football section.

Check out the result, pretty cool. Also note the lower third animation used to introduce Ed. Credit to Tanner Herriott for the editing.

Above the fold

Web site critics are constantly arguing over Web content that “must be above the fold.” As if Web users are idiots who cannot understand how to scroll.

Here’s a great point-counterpoint about above the fold/scroll.

Week ending 3 things

With your permission, allow me a few opening words that sum it all up.

“Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.”

Happy birthday Big Mac! The big 4-0! The triple-decker burger was first introduced in 1967 by Jim Delligatti, a McDonald’s franchise owner in Uniontown, Pa. Let’s go to the scoreboard. People in more than 100 countries have given in to Big Mac attacks. 550 million Big Macs are sold each year in the U.S.. That’s about 17 per second. It weighs nearly a half-pound. Has 540 calories and 29 grams of fat.

Ok, no surprise which story was most read this week on NewsOK. Yes, the story of an Oklahoma City man being charged this week with aggravated assault and battery, accused of causing extensive damage earlier this summer to another man’s scrotum just because he wore a University of Texas shirt into a local bar. 60 stitches were required.
