Do you like the way your book smells?

Read ya'll!

Read lately? Do you ever read? One in four adults read no books at all in the past year. This according to a survey conducted by the Associated Press and Ipsos. Who read the most? Women and older people were most avid. Top choices? Religious works and popular fiction. The typical person did claim to read four books in the last year. Raise your hand if you believe that!

Well, maybe it’s the smell. Another survey, this by Zogby International, found that 43 percent of students identified smell, either a new or old smell, as the quality they most like about books. What? And you might have guessed it, an electronic textbook Web site is launching the world’s first smelly e-book. In September, CafeScribe.com will send every e-textbook purchaser a scratch and sniff sticker with a musty “old book” smell. Ok, seriously, putting a sticker on your computer for a musty book smell?

Let’s turn from the bookworms to the party animals. The Princeton Review has released its annual lists of what school does what. Top party school? West Virginia. Texas partied into the No. 3 spot. No school from Oklahoma made the top 20. The Stone Cold Sober school? Brigham Young University. Again.

That’s today’s 3 Things. And you now know them. Enjoy.
