R.I.P., Rocky Pennington

Roscoe “Rocky” Pennington, seen in the photograph above, died Sept. 8.

He was 66.

On Sept. 23, 1987, two of Mr. Pennington’s daughters, Cheryl Genzer and Lisa Pennington, vanished from the Oklahoma State Fair and were later found dead. No one has ever been convicted in their deaths.

Mr. Pennington, along with his wife and extended family, worked hard throughout the past 21 years to find justice for his daughters and learn exactly what happened the night they disappeared. When I talked to him a year ago for a Cold Case story on the case, he was losing his hearing and needed a liver transplant. He and his wife told me that losing their daughters had cost them their health and taken years from their lives.

“All of this we live with is just pulling us down,” his wife told me last year.

And now Mr. Pennington is gone. My condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

I don’t know if there is an afterlife or what it’s like, but I hope that somewhere, somehow, Rocky has been reunited with his daughters.

I hope he has all the answers he needs.

Mr. Raymond,

I can assure you there is an “afterlife”. It can be spent in eternal peace and joy by placing your faith in the creator of the universe. Jesus loves you and died on a cross for all our sins.

God bless you!

it has been over a year now since i lost rocky. we all miss him so. it has been nearly 22 years since we lost our girls( cheryl and lisa) we have some new clues but okc police will not take them serious. (what’s new) we can only do so much,we try but seems like everytime we have an idea, etc.,it only goes so far, then as always it is forgotten. please if any person knows of anything please call okc. police dept and talk to MIKE BURKE,he is on cold cases. also had our case in 1987. keep calling till you talk with him personally. please. pray for us,as you know we need them all. bless you all, charlette (MOTHER OF CHERYL AND lisa, wife of rocky)

Thinking of Cheryl and Lisa this 22nd anniversary of the night they went to the fair and never came home. There are people who know exactly what happened. Hope they come forward and put the killers behind bars soon.

My prayers and condolences to this family and especially to Mrs. Pennington. I have been aware of your story for many years and have always prayed you would find some peace in this life. What you have endured is unimaginable. Continue to stand strong during this trying time and know that you are not alone in your pain. I am sure others as well as myself hurt for you and with you. As a Christian I know your husband is finally at peace and with his daughters. I pray you know and trust God’s promise of everlasting life so that you too can be reunited with your lost daughters and husband. Do not give the murderer(s) control of the remainder of your life. I believe there is a special place in hell for people like that who prey on defenseless victims. Good luck to you and may you be blessed continously and abundantly.
