About
Ryan Aber covers some of the most tradition-rich programs in the city area, Oklahoma City schools (including Millwood) and Mid-Del. Ryan grew up in Oklahoma City and has been following high school sports in the state for a long time, starting by going to Putnam North games while attending Hefner Junior High. He’s also spent time in other parts of the state and region, working at newspapers in Muskogee, Fort Smith, Ark., and Springdale/Fayetteville, Ark., before returning home to Oklahoma City in 2006. He also attended a variety of colleges, starting with OU straight out of high school, followed by a stint in the Army Reserves and Connors State College before (finally) graduating from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. When not keeping tabs on the state’s high school sports scene, Ryan (like much of the rest of The Oklahoman’s high school sports coverage staff) passionately follows the Chicago Cubs and waits for the day when that long World Series drought finally comes to an end. He’s also a fan of the Chicago Bulls, Green Bay Packers and Colorado Avalanche.
