Senate supports anti-abortion measure
The Senate passed a resolution today against President Barack Obama’s “Freedom of Choice,” Act which outlines that a woman’s right to chose whether to have a baby or terminate a pregnancy should be a guaranteed right.
The resolution filed by freshman Sen. Dan Newberry, R-Tulsa, says the Senate opposes the federal efforts to protect access to abortion and family planning. The measure, passed on a voice vote, got no audible opposition. But without using the electronic voting system, there was no real way to tell who voted for it and who didn’t.
The resolution was passed the same day that anti-abortion groups came to the capitol and handed out roses to raise awareness.
Newberry said Senate Resolution 5 reflects the wishes of Oklahomans.
“Oklahomans have continually supported pro-life issues and this honorable body has continually passed pro-life measures,” Newberry said. “All would be negated if the Freedom of Choice Act becomes law. This act also causes Oklahomans and United States citizens to give up their 10th amendment right, granting more control to the federal government in determining our rights.”

I am a woman born and raised in Oklahoma. I was raised with a very proven bible verse which supports my right to determine what I will do with my body. It is my sole right and I have raised my girls that it is their right no matter how much you antis try to poke it down our throats. I don’t believe the way you do so stop trying to tell me what I can do or not do. I have a Choice.
After all, I was born in a free country. And in reference to it being murder–a fetus does not have a SOUL until he or she takes their first breathe which is at birth. Refer to Genesis) At that time if you harm the living baby, THAT is murder. You can write all of the laws you want but the US Supreme court stands behind me–And why do you bible thumpers keep bringing up abortion rights, the supreme court settled it years ago. So shut up–it is an old and done deal..
Dana, since it’s yours and your girls body I guess you also teach them that doing heroin or meth is okay too – seeing as how it’s your body and all. Your assertion is ridiculous. And by the way, what is the verse you have misinterpreted?
And Dana, regarding you rationale for terminating pregnancy, what say you about a father of an unborn baby taking it’s life BEFORE its birth – I mean it’s his DNA and the baby is unborn (which you claim has no soul therefore is not life) so I guess he should get a free pass on that murder, no?
No law will ever stop abortion. Laws against abortion can only make it more dangerous for the women involved.
It’s amazing how Republicans are so against abortion but have no problem sending our children off to die in a war of lies .
Refer to Gen. 2:7. Life begins when you take your first breathe. I will stand up to what I have been taught by my faith. Just because I don’t believe as you do is not any of your business or right to tell me what to believe. The moron with the heroin comment is just that a morin who is ignorant and dumb. The US Supreme court consists of educated and humane people. At least they have the intelligence to rule with God.
Until a fetus is recognized as a citizen then it cannot be protected under the law. If you want to use the Bible for your argument, then you are advocating that America become a theocracy.
A baby is a gift from God. An abortion is a choice to murder that child. Birth begins at conception. A partial birth abortion is a hideous partial abortion of a young baby boy or girl child. Its not a good thing and it never will be no matter whose choice it is…
Our country is all for retro-active abortion A.K.A. the death penalty and allowing old men to start wars so young men can die in them.Seems most people I hear that are against abortion are all for the death penalty and kicking the crap out of a “dangerous” enemy like Saddam “Colonel Klink” Hussein.Seems to be a bit of a contradiction to me. Doesn’t that book of philosophy that levels my old sofa say “don’t kill” yet we kill people in the name of “god” all the time. Isn’t that why Bush ran for pres because god called him? Did he call him after 9pm so as not to burn minutes or are they both with AT&T? We don’t establish laws on the whiners from the christian wacko far right because we aren’t a theocracy yet. Yet is the operative word in the sentence droogs.

I would like to commend the efforts of our state senators for standing united in supporting the rights of the unborn. Because these babies have no voice to air their objections to those who promote a pro-abortion agenda we must be their advocates. God bless you, senators, in your efforts and hopefully those in Washington will follow your ethical and courageous stand.
