Social media users weigh in on President Obama’s visit to Oklahoma

This week media outlets have been buzzing about President Barack Obama’s visit to Oklahoma and his stop in Cushing to talk about domestic energy and the Keystone XL pipeline.

Obama landed at Tinker Air Force Base Wednesday night and spent the night in Oklahoma City.

The president did not make a speech after he stepped off Air Force One, but he did walk over to an area where about 180 military members and civilians from Tinker were gathered. “Thank you for your service,” the president said, as he shook outstretched hands.

Mayor Cornett said he did speak briefly with the president. “I welcomed him to Oklahoma City. I had not seen him in a little while.”

But news outlets weren’t the only ones talking about the president’s visit. Social media users have been posting their thoughts on Twitter and Facebook since the president arrived Wednesday night.

Mr Obama is visiting our state today. In the most disrespectful, indignant, repulsive and disgusting display of their faux Christian values they hide behind during elections years, our Republican representation has left the state. Fallin and Lamb should be forced out of office as they have once again made Oklahomans appear to be nothing more than uneducated racists. I am ashamed and extremely appalled by their actions. If you are not, then you too are lacking morals and values and are also a disgrace to the rest of us.

I agree with Tommy – Fallin is SHAMEFUL and disgusting along with her cohorts.

I totally agree that Fallin is a disgrace…..how dare she snub the President…..and send a snarky press release. The Mayor of OKC has more class in his little finger than she does in her entire head of bleached blonde hair. I hope Mick runs against her next time, he has proved how much he care’s about this state.

Mr. President
You said you have been here before??? I’m confused cause I thought this was a first for any President? I wish I could have met you:( Thank you for coming despite the racist bigots that live here.

Couldn’t put any better myself Tommy. I’m not surprised though. People on medicare talk about getting the government out of their lives; people on SI disability and food stamps talk about wasteful spending and corruption at the hands of Democrats; redneck gun freaks scream about their gun rights being taken away in spite of the fact that no one is taking away their guns and in fact Obama signed a bill (with a Tom Coburn rider) allowing people to carry guns into national parks and signed another bill allowing people to pack guns in their luggage on Amtrak. Lying hypocrites!

Listen up folks, check your facts before you start making accusations that you cannot support. Why don’t you check where Governor Fallin and Lt. Gov. Lamb were at. Frankly I don’t care that Mr. President was here.

Unless they were in the ICU ward at the hospital Joyce, they should have been here. This was done on purpose because of politics….snarky is a word Gov. Henry used a lot and it fits perfect here.

Brandi, the President was here in OKC as a candidate in 2008, he had a rally at the old farmer’s market building at Reno and Western and it was so packed it spilled out the doors. He has supporters here in Oklahoma the vote was about a 60/40 split. I hate for him to think the entire state population is made up of bigots and haters.

Okay, so the President of the United States of AMERICA arrives in OKC and you (Ms Governor) cannot make yourself available to meet him! This speaks volumes to the state of this State….

Mr President, Mary Fallin did not want to welcome you to Oklahoma, but I sure did! I would have loved for you to of had a town meeting, invited all who wish to attend. I would have been there on the front row! Don’t worry, we did not get to meet, but you will sure have my vote in November! I think you are one of the best Presidents that we have had in my years of life (61)

Gov.Fallin what a shame to our great state Oklahoma,to not welcome the president of the united states. As a native american we welcome you Mr.President always to Oklahoma (Land of the Red Man).
