911 call of Blanchard home invasion released

The Grady County sheriff’s office has released the 911 call of an 18-year-old woman who shot and killed an intruder Saturday.

Listen to one part of the call above and check back with NewsOK for more sound bites.

Sarah McKinley, 18, tells a dispatcher in the call that she’s at home with her son and heard a man knocking at the door. She said she has two guns in her hand and asks the dispatcher if she is allowed to shoot the intruders if they enter her house.

Blanchard Police Chief Walt Thompson said Justin Shane Martin, 24, of Blanchard, used force to enter the residence and was shot in the upper torso. His accomplice, Dustin Louis Stewart, 29, later turned himself in at the Blanchard police station. Prosecutors say he could face a murder charge in connection with the home invasion.

Best wishes for the victim of this crime, it’s sad that she was forced to defend herself and her home, but hopefully she gets the support she needs. I hope the surviving criminal is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for putting this victim in the position of having to defend herself in this way. Hopefully other criminals will take note of this outcome and either choose a different path or suffer the same fate.

Is anyone but me wondering why it took over 20 minutes for a police officer/deputy to get to this poor soul?

Well, it says that the girl lived in Blanchard which is about 26 miles from the Grady County Sheriff’s office in Chickasha, Ok. So, it just takes them that long to get there. There was a case back in 2009 of a woman named Donna Jackson, same thing, she lived out in the country and some crazy man was trying to break into her home (he was on drugs and thought he was at someone else’s home). She called 911 and stayed on the phone until she shot him when he threw a patio table through her plate glass door. She was 57 and living alone. http://newsok.com/multimedia/video/54313835001
