What you all seem to be forgetting is that Floyd has looked invulnerable and has been invincible through the years, save the Castillo fights that were more stinkers than anything else. How could anyone in their right mind say that Pac destroys him when we don’t even know if it’s possible? Floyd whupped up on Hatton and De la Hoya before Pac did. So Pac’s opponents were older and coming off losses, yet, he “fought the best.”

Again, I’m in agreement with Boneman that the ball is in Money’s court, but I disagree with the $30 million figure because it will likely be more. Pac is still the more glamorous fighter and has done a lot more lately in a “what have you done for me lately?” world. It will be up to Floyd to initiate negotiations and make a concession or two. Don’t be surprised if Floyd comes out on top in the end, though. This is his chance to make huge money and be on par with Ray Robinson: I say he shuts down Pac Man.

An interesting article would be to compare K-1 kickboxing vs professional boxing in terms of possible appeal. FEG, the parent company of the K-1 promotion, are focused mainly on their traditional market in Japan (they are afterall a Japanese company), but I feel they should make an effort to market their events in the U.S. as well. K-1 is, in my opinion, more consistently entertaining than professional boxing and the added dimension of kicking and knees to the body would entice younger fight fans in the U.S. who have turned to MMA for a more dynamic combat sport. Unfortunately, if K-1 remains relegated to HDNet in the states, most of them will probably remain ignorant of its existence

The promotion Strikeforce held the Fedor vs Rogers event. You are referring to the media created battle between boxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), which is the SPORT that the promotion UFC is a part of. If anything, Strikeforce’s success with Fedor Emelianenko hurts the UFC from a business perspective. Also, no one, I mean NO ONE expected UFC 105 to really put a dent in the Pacquiao vs Cotto fight, so this isn’t a win for boxing: boxing’s few superfights left will undoubtedly outshine UFC events scheduled on the same evening, since there are so few compelling fights that take place in boxing, as opposed to the monthly (and sometimes more) UFC cards where the best fight the best.I’m very tired of clueless people referring to MMA as “UFC” and acting like fans of either sport give a damn about the “MMA vs boxing” virtual competition.

I appreciate the comment. I’ve written about Strikeforce and Bellator and Sengoku before, so that was just a slip up on my part about UFC vs. boxing. As to your second point, we’ll have to agree to disagree because I feel it is important to see where the viewing public is going when the two are going head-to-head.

Floyd 0 lost is nothing if he did not fight the best out of cotto, margarito, mosley, pacman.

Floyd can retire again a can keep his 0 lost forever and thinking he is the greatest but not to boxing fans. Boxing fans around the world knows that.

I agree that the ball is now on Floyd.

Why? Reason are 1)Floyds bargaining point is only his 0 lost but that is still not tested because he have not fight the like of cotto, mosley, berto or even pacman. 2)He is no longer the pound for pound champion and the only way to reclaim that is by fighting the pound 4 pound champ pacman. 3)Floyd does not have any belt right now while pacman have both the 140 and 147 belt.

Floyd’s 40% share is I think fair enough….

Pacman could have his trilogy with Juan Manuel Marquez, or have an easy fight with someone first. 140 or 147lbs

Let’s face it, and quit BSing…The best pound for pound fighter so far is Pacquiao, he is versatile and can fight. He is quick and he has the power to bring Gayweather to his knees. Gayweather is a big mouth, keeps running away from fighting boxers that can beat him. Did you guys watch Gayweather-Marquez, gimme a break!!! that was boring as hell. Gayweather!!! It’s your chance to prove you the best, don’t screw it up and keep crying every time larry merchant doubts that you are the best boxer out there…Man up for once and show us that you got a heart of lion because Pacman does…This is fixing to be one of the best fights ever, unless gayweather chickens out…
