I asked and you delivered…and then some. Between 3:30 and 8 p.m. yesterday was when I received almost all of these responses.
Here’s another set:
“When I heard the news, I was sad. Then a little miffed. But when I told my 10 year old daughter, she burst into tears. We’ve been talking about the start of hockey season since the end of the last hockey season. We got to know some of the players, and were really looking forward to seeing them again. This sucks.” – Bryan Hull, Oklahoma City
“Wow…Honestly I don’t even know where to begin. The news that our team is suspending operations has hit me like a ton of bricks. I have been a faithful fan for fifteen years, and after last years promising season I was really expecting to bring the championship home this year. I dont understand how a team can lead the CHL in overall attendance and just close their doors. I cannot help but believe this has something to do with the Thunder basketball team. Hockey has deep roots here in Oklahoma City, and the Blazers have an incredible fan base. We need answers.” Cody Perreault, Mustang
“Whatever the issues are, I hope they solve them quickly. I can’t imagine the CHL without the Blazers, even though they have owned my beloved Thunder the past couple of seasons. This truly sucks.” Lorene Magee
“I started going to the blazers games 4 seasons ago even becoming a season ticket holder. When I lived in Enid for a year I drove back and forth to the games. I am a single mom, but it was a time for my children and I to go have family time together. It was fun for them with the players, the activities, the game and teammanship. It was good clean fun for all of us. We were very devoted fans, seldom missing a game. We watched the trades of the team members last year that truly shocked us but we were Blazers fans and it was the team we supported. I took my foster children there, my friends came from out of town…..my stomach is churning at having to tell my children that they will no longer be going. My 2 and 3-year-old girls would get in the car and when we would approach the exit they would shout “Let’s go Blazers.” Now that it off season we drive by the Ford Center and they shout hockey and as we drive on past they yell…”Bye Bye hockey.”
We saw many families there that became like friends, they will be missed also….I hate the fact that OKC is letting them go. I know that sales went down with the oncoming of the Thunder and the economy but I wish they would hang in there and give themselves a chance. They have an awesome team now with goaltenders of the week how many times. Look at Tyler Fleck who has been “humanitarian.” This team gave back not only to their team and fans but to the city that did not even know who they were.
Please reconsider this decision……My daughter is crying and I will go now to soothe her.
Let’s go Blazers.” Kennie Roach, Midwest City
“We have been STH for 5 yrs. We live in Louisiana & Orville does contract work in OKC part time. We really enjoyed Blazers Hockey. The price of the season tickets for the AHL will probably be more than we can afford. “GOOD LUCK” to all of our players past & present. Thanks for the memories!!” O. Schroeder
