Requested that he and Dewey Selmon autograph an old OU football program I had found a few years ago. After a cordial couple of minutes and a quick photo op with both, I walked away thinking Steve would and should be the quarterback of any huddle. This whether against gridiron adversaries or life challenges in general. Mr. Selmon exuded a gracious ability to annihilate your existence if necessary but would rather just be your friend. Although actual autographs don’t mean that much to me, the fellowship and friendships found within the retrieval process is quite valuable. The signature I have of Steve Davis #5 will serve in remembrance of the day he smiled, shook my hand and enjoyed a few of his own flashback memories of a 25-3 victory over K-State from within the old 1975 football program.
