I do think that collegiate wrestling perhaps ought to go to the freestyle format and promote itself a little better. But in no way do I want to see an elimination of wrestling from Olympics – not the freestyle nor the Greco-Roman. Both are great venues and a lot of fun to watch. I don’t know why networks don’t show more of them. I really, really think Olympic wrestling worth saving, because once it’s gone it’s hard to get it back.

I want wrestling reinstated and get more coverage before the medal rounds. However, Bowlsby better get busy fixing officiating in the Big 12. Last night was a black eye for the league and leadership.

Everyone is up in arms about wrestling being removed from the olympics but no one seems to be talking about the reason it was removed: rampant corruption.

My opinion is Olympics should drop men’s basketball before it drops wrestling. All we’re getting now is a bunch of NBA stars who are millionaires playing. Basketball can take care of itself and its players with all the money it needs. The Olympics is feeding off the basketball players more than the players need the Olympics to catapult them to fame. The Olympics have become so far removed from the spirit of amateur competition that it just shows how the Olympics have sold out. So if wrestling goes is Tae Kwon do, judo, fencing, boxing, and all one-on-one-type sports far behind?

We as wrestlers and coaches are our worst promotors….we are so focused on results and not politics, that we forgot,it is about politics. We need to do a better job promoting ourselves…..this is our wake-up call.

If it’s dropped as an Olympic sport, you can bet I won’t watch the Olympics ever again. Wrestling is the spirit of the Summer Olympics. It should be one of the greatest venues on the whole docket, but bad marketing by the Olympics and the networks has caused it to be short-changed. It’s one of the toughest sports in the whole world. There isn’t a whole lot a collegiate wrestler can look forward to in professionals afterwards – just the Olympics. And you want to take that from them also? Shame on the Olympic Committee Board of Directors. Shame.
