5 coaches in 2 years (counting Venables)after Kittle and Shipp today – maybe the problem is at the top?

Knock the halfway championship talk and compete for what really counts.

How about exceeding expectations for a change? Admit it when you aren’t getting it done and double down.

I am not saying Stoops needs to go, I’m just saying its time to put up or shut up.

All of these “theories” crack me up. If Stoops wants to hire another coacj he can because last time I checked, he gets all the blame if the season doesn’t end in a championship. This is what I hate about Sooner fans, we whine about everything. The ones with the “entitlement issue” is the fans. Enjoy football, enjoy Stoops. He’ll be gone after while and we will really be up a creek. The best thing we can do is shut up and enjoy the wins, because we have won A LOT more than we have lost. If you have some sort of happiness in your personal life, you’ll realize football is an amazing game to watch and play…but its still just a game

I would argue that a big reason OU lost both of its regular season games was its inability to achieve any sort of balance. Don’t get me wrong. OU won a lot of games by putting the ball in Landry’s hands (71 attempts vs. OSU), but KSU and ND both “contained the passing game.” I certainly don’t expect OU to start rushing for 350 yards/game, but it’s nice for the opponent’s defense to at least pretend OU might run. I’m not kissing anyone’s @$$, and OSU fans should take solace in the fact that OU would kill for the type of offensive balance that the pokes have had the past few years.

Funny some of the fans and media – calling OU soft and n o running game now all the bandwagon and media jokers tell how great Patton was. Never heard his name mentioned all year long by the “press”. Now he is being martyred by the media as a great coach -great guy, scapegoat.
Gundy from oSu must love when Stoops only wins 10 games . Some of you beyotching OU fans are purely ignorant – Stoops won more games this decade than anyone. All you Saban @$$ kissers might want to read about his 4 arrested stud muffins – and you want OU’s program modeled after him ???

If you want to read just the facts, go find an AP(associated press – not Adrian Peterson) article. Berry’s a columnist, and this is a blog. He gets paid because people are interested in his insight into programs he’s covered for decades. You might fault him for irresponsible “opinions,” but I’m not sure where the spectrum of responsibility for opinions begins and ends these days.

I digress. First, I think this move clearly says something about Stoops’ desire to bring the running game back up to snuff. He’s clearly confident about Kittle’s ability to coach tackles, one of whom is about to be a first round pick. Second, I think this may very well be an admission of weak recruiting on the part of Patton. OU just hasn’t been able to bring in and (more importantly) keep stud offensive linemen at the pace of five years ago.

Good for Bob! I’m impressed that Bob seems to be putting the program above his friendships. Two position coaches that have needed to go, for 3 to 4 years now: the O-line coach, and the D-line coach. OU is consistently out-played and out-recruited in this area. If you’re Oklahoma, and you can’t run the ball, or stop the run, something has to change. Over the last several years, when it comes down to physical football, OU’s O-line, and D-line have been whipped, pretty consistently.

I think it is irresponsible journalism to read what it reported from the “Source” (OU athletics) that a person has accepted another position and for you to draw your own conclussion that he was fired. No matter what you “think”, just report the facts.

I sure as hell didn’t need Bob Stoops to tell me he’s got problems!!!! OU has allowed 40-plus points, in blow out losses, how many times in the last four years???? 13 total losses in the last four years!!!!!
