Your record for the Big 12 is incorrect. You said we went 2-2-1 which would imply we had 2 losses and 1 tie when your stats say we had 1 loss and 2 ties (2-1-2), same as the Pac-12.

You also missed a “game” for the ACC, they should be 0-3-2, not 0-3-1.

did the Big Least do their damage against ooc bottom feeders (like WVU)?

and don’t forget ND who samples across the conference. The OK loss really added to the mediocrity.

if google can create an algorithm that can search for darn near anything on the web, then surely a programmer with a stable field of teams can put weight on factors from stats, points,statistical rankings, weather conditions, number of players in the NFL, to home field to injuries. . . . and then tweak and keep tweaking. and then you can ad the mid majors in who like ND play a cross section of the Bigs

You don’t think Vegas already has this? they’re just not making up numbers in order to make their billions.

Hum. Well the results are somewhat tilted as OU has a tradition of playing poorly in bowl games. I can remember 50 years ago watching them get thrashed in the orange bowl and all my cousins having fits over the losses.

As to growth two things have to be taken into consideration, TV Market (Revenue) and net revenue for other sports. It costs money to travel and some places cost a lot more than others. If there is not potential for rivalries which will bring out great crowds then maybe the team is not a good fit.

BYU maybe needs close study. Boise no tv market, cost for travel will be very high for other sports. Who else might fit I dont know.

The real story is brand name…and unless the Big 12 does something to make itself attractive the best recruits will go other places. Expansion, if the right reams are added could be a plus…adding the wrong teams just makes a conference weaker by killing its brand name. If we don’t expand then the Big 12 needs to schedule marquee non conference games AND win them. The pass happy Big 12 needs to move toward what NFL teams are doing….dual threat QBs. Play under center and stout defenses….with a lot of speed. Have a real running game. Guess we will see what Chip Kelly can do…..my guess is a short stint in the NFL…

I believe you made a typo unless the ACC played itself LOL. Anyway, the conference has admittedly slipped a bit since my playing days back in the 50s under Coach Case. Back then, we were laying the foundation for a legendary basketball conference and i am proud to have played a part in that.

Well said! Florida State & BYU would make a welcome addition to an undersized league that will prepetually struggle in such mediocrity as long as they avoid doing what’s needed!
