The problem is OU doesn't have a very good defense. A wide receiver who had never played running back before tears the OU defense up in West Virginia. A so-so freshman QB from Notre Dame kills the OU defense. The OU offense will have to score a touchdown on every possession to force overtime. How has the return of the great Mike Stoops been this season? OU will look better on defense next season because the Big XII offenses won't be quite as good with all the good QBs gone. But they will again be exposed in the bowl game.

I agree with Terry. With as bad as the OU defense has been this year it is easy to see Texas A&M scoring at least 50. The offense will have to score often to keep up. The problem is with a long layoff it will hurt an offense like OU runs much more than the Texas A&M offense. OU runs an offense that relies on timing in the passing game. Texas A&M is a running team with a QB who makes up plays as he goes along.

This sort of seems like a non-issue to me. So we're playing A&M...big deal. The fact that they're in some other conference now is irrelevent. Just because they moved to the SEC doesn't mean they can't hang half a hundred on Mike Stoops and his defense, either. Heck, everybody else has!

You left out the regular season return of the OU-Nebraska game. Nebraska left for the Big 10, but I doubt anyone in Oklahoma blames them for leaving. This is one game between former members of the same conference that both schools agreed to renew in the regular season not just in a bowl game. So, for OU this isn't a big thing about playing schools who left the conference.

Better believe that Mike Stoops is looking T the Bama and LSU games 24/7. He has a month...and OU got better against a is,liar styled attack against TCU. Sumlin's has some OU roots...same offensive philosophy....except, Manziel can perform impromptu where LJ can't. We should be familiarnwithnhis playbook. The defensive coaches should have the number on both teams. Sumlin knows our plays, too. I'm betting Kendall Thompson runs the scout team in practices running up to the bowl game. He has a similar skill set as Manziel. This game might not be first to 50 wins. The defenses may do better than expected...it may be a game where turnover, penalties, and the kicking game decides who wins.

Manziel is the type of QB that gives the team he plays on the best chance to win. He's not a splash in the pan. All SEC were familiar with him when they faced him and he still wasn't stopped. The SEC is on top now because they, from top to bottom, play smash mouth old school football, The type OU USED to play. They prove that defense is still an integral part of the game. Manziel make the game exciting, like the wishbone did back in the day. We'll see what an average, at best, D-line & 6-DB's masquerading as LB's do against him?

Agreed Ed Lova. The SEC sees a decent offense that can move the ball against their impenetrable defenses and the only answer must be a once in a generation player.
