Also, right now the Big 12 is stronger in the middle and at the bottom than the SEC is. The Big 12′s only chump is Kansas. In the SEC, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Auburn were really bad football teams this year.

Actually, the numbers work in favor of SEC teams as far as conference records go. SEC teams only play 8 conference games, so they have a good shot at missing some of the better opponents every year. The Big 12, on the other hand, features round-robin play, with 9 conference games, so there’s no escaping any team in the conference. Also, the additional conference game means that there is one more opportunity to slip up.

The conferences with two divisions and a championship game have a structural advantage in putting teams into the national championship game and in placing a 2nd team in a BCS bowl.

Are you kidding me? Arkansas was the ONLY undefeated team standing after the bowl season, having beaten Nebraska 10-7. (And the AP adopted its current policy of doing its last poll AFTER bowl games because of that year’s outcome.)

Arkansas’ national championship is as legitimate as anyone’s.

Obscure National Championship? They were the only undefeated team that year. They beat Texas and Texas beat Alabama, the AP Champ. Certainly less obscure than OU in 1974 when they were banned from a bowl game because of academic fraud or 1975 when they got beat by Kansas at home.

Won’t happen. If scheduling is the issue, Gundy needs to leave. Scheduling is the Athletic Director’s responsibility. (Which is basically in agreement with the major contributor.) OSU needs to take the “buyout money”, and laugh to the bank.

No one really knows what Gundy’s intentions are?
Holder is no Dale Carnegie for sure and is Pickens handpicked AD,Holder was a good golf coach but OSU has always had great golf program for years,nothing new here.
All these people need to leave Gundy alone and let him do his job,he needs no help w scheduling from Holder.

Gundy is taking a real chance. Interviewing in a down year. 7-5 record. And now, purportedly complaining about the non-conference scheduling. Jimmy Sexton, Gundy’s sports agent, most likely has over-played his hand. (Very common in the legal world.)

An obscure national championship? Arkansas was the only undefeated team in 1964. The AP awarded its title to Alabama before the bowl games were played. Because Alabama lost, the AP waited to vote its national champion in 1965 after the season. Arkansas was undefeated going into the Cotton Bowl that year, but lost to LSU.

Arkansas changed the way the AP vote is held with its “obscure national championship” and missed out winning it the next year because of it.
