Why have divisions at all? Wouldn’t it be better to pool all the teams together and alternate who you play on an every 2 year (home and home) basis? Of course each team could have a couple of protected rivals that they would play every year(for OU- Texas and OSU). Then at the end of the season simply take the teams with the two best conference records and play a championship game. This would most of the time produce a much more relavent championship game.
