Latest BCS rankings....the old Big 12 would have 6 of the top 25 teams in the BCS IF Nebraska and A$M had stayed. So the Big 12 definitely got hurt by losing them. TCU and WVU no where near the teams we lost.

OR.......

Maybe it is easier to win in the BIG 10 and SEC. In other words, those conferences have a 1-4 powerhouse teams and then a huge drop off. The Big 12 is more balanced. If BU beats OSU (watch out Pokes, they are the real deal on offense), the Big 12 will have 9 bowl eligible teams. the SEC could have more teams with losing records than teams with winning records. Remember they are a 14 team conference. Will the Big 10 even fill all of its bowls?

Presently, ACC is the conference on the ropes. The loss of Maryland, a charter member, was a big blow. If expansion, the likelihood of 14 teams is probably right. My guess, if it happens, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech and a fourth team from that region could move to the Big 12. Which would mean the SEC would be bracketed from expansion to the east and west. This is a contest for geographic and media footprint. And secondly, entry into the quality football recruiting grounds of Texas-Oklahoma and Florida.

I think when the Big 12 expands, which probably won't happen for a while since the $ would more than likely have to be renegotiated and TV rights, etc., (the 10 little piggies are quite content for now, but unless they are pro-active could find themselves a target of a hostile takeover). I think the next expansion will see the Big 12 (10) add 4 more teams....the Big 10 (12) will now have 14 as the does the SEC. Without going to 14 and soon, got ome more year to play around, the Big 12 (10) could see 8 of their teams being targets of the SEC, Big 10 (14), and the PAC 12 as all will try to get the best teams available for super conferences of 16 teams. If that happens can you see UT and Iowa St. going to the Big 10 (14), KSU, KU, TT, BU (KU and BU great basketball schools and BU baseball, too) to PAC 12. and OU and OSU to SEC. TCU and WVU...to the ACC. Of course, UT could just go independent which might make an opening for KSU in Big 10 and TCU to PAC 12. The question is which conference is going to be dismantled? The ACC or Big 12? The Big East is done in football.

First comment. I basically agree with Tramel on his rankings. But now, once again, conference realignment is a topic. Maryland and Rutgers have announced intention to join the Big 10. Important to the Big 12, there is now rumor that Florida State is watching closely the negotiations of the exit fee (from the contractual $50M) that the ACC could impose on Maryland. Conceivably, depending on that exit fee amount, the Seminoles would once again be looking at the Big 12. Clemson also rumored to be interested. My question, can the Big 12 split into divisions? No one, with the exception of West Virginia, presently in Big 12, will want to be left out of the old Big 12 South Division.

Texas is over rated. They should have lost to OSU and KU. If OSU had any cornerbacks that wouldn't let someone run eight yards and turn around and still be five yards from the reciever you wouldn't be praising Landry Jones. You could complete those throws Berry. If OSU had some cornerbacks like LSU they would be national champs. Kansas State is having a year like OSU did with Zac Robinson. Klein is beat up and they don't have their "A" game. If you are just ranking the conference shouldn't TCU be ahead of Texas since they beat them?(Texas would be ahead in a national poll)
