Tim-the same timeout could have been used wit 5 seconds instead of 26.... They would have had the same amount of time to settle down and score, without giving WVU a chance to touch it again... Just sayin

Disagree. The timeout happened at the perfect time. It was about to be 4th down. Use the time to settle everyone down...surely didn't need any penalties. Use the time to let LJ get his head straight...great audible LJ, by the way! At some point you defense has to stand up. They did just enough and we somehow got a W,and that's all that matters! Now on to another headache for Mike and his troops....OSU...who is an offensive juggernaut. Need some REAL answers this week or we could see 3 home losses this year...

The bigger issue was the clock management when OU had the ball.... Why hit the panic button and call timeout immediately after Bell's failed run on 3rd down with 26 seconds left? 4th down will be your final offensive play, regardless of what happens. There should have been no time left after the td.

"rarely was corralled by the Sooners"

Yet he was easily corralled on all 7 of his kickoff returns. He's not Gale Sayers. The stupid defensive scheme was the worst I've ever witnessed.

It wasn't a bad call. Kicking it short puts West Virginia 20 yards closer to the field goal they needed. Kiciking it out of bounds puts the Mountaineers 12 yards closer than they ended up.

Look at it this way. In the game, WVU started on the 23, got 39 yards before trying the Hail Mary. Had they started on the 40, which is likely with a squib kick, that 39 yards would have put them on the 21 with four seconds left. An easy field goal and the win.

Bob didn't lose his edge. He had faith in his team and was rewarded.

Stoops is losing his edge? He showed huge guts kicking it to the guy and trusted his team to stop him and they did. I'm not understanding why that was a bad call.
