I (an unapologetic OU fan) am very tired of the OVERcoverage of everything "SEC". Much is made of QBs like who rack up huge stats in a QB favorable system (i.e. every QB from Texas Tech under Mike Leach), and they are dubbed a "System Quarterback". In much the same way, the SEC is full of "System Champions". The majority of teams in the mighty SEC feature teams that run, run, and run some more, and Defenses geared to stop the same. They are VERY good at this. The "System" that they win in is the Joke that uses ONE game played after 5 weeks off to determine the "Champion". Of course the team that is better suited to doing what takes very little precision, and almost no timing or coordination is going to flourish in that circumstance. Hopefully a 4 team playoff will eventually expand to 8, and eliminate the time off that is a much greater detriment to teams that feature precision and timing, and need actual game time to stay sharp.

What about this one for fairness....have the SEC LEAGUE and BCS rankings of each team in their league, then the rest of CFB in another league. The SEC can still have their title game and whoever is #2 in the rest of the CFB League can play that team for the NC. Not so long ago the best conference in college football was the Big 12 South - from top to bottom. Yes, BU was puny, but the rest of the South could beat any given team on any given Saturday. So, where was the love?

If college football keeps this SEC preference up where we have to watch 2 SEC teams play for the NC....no one will watch it except,,SEC ADDICTS.

Berry, you are right that the 4-team playoff should favor conference champions. Or, even better, I would prefer the "3 plus 1" model. The top 3 rated conference champions plus one at-large selection (conference champ or not, whoever is considered #4). The 3+1 model would allow for a super team that didn't win the conference championship (think Alabama 2011 or Oklahoma 2003) to still get a chance to prove they belong. Under Berry's model neither the 2011 Bama team nor the 2003 OU team would have been allowed in the top 4, which is ridiculous.

Almost as sickening as the SEC SEC SEC chant is the fact they are overrated - Bama got a dose of the spread and didn 't like it very much. Texas dang near beat Bama with some dude named Garret Gilbert. OU had to play Florida without Demarco Murray. OU lost by 6 AT LSU .

For those of you who chant SEC SEC SEC - please learn to read . Comparing schedules is stupid because the BIG 12 teams aren't ranked 4 thru 10. As for the 8 for 8 that is water under the bridge . A small qb who could both run and pass ( the only qb in the SEC that can do that) peed on the parade. SEC SEC SEC SEEYA!!!

Keep overlooking certain facts to prop up your argument, you'll go far in life.

This is why my interest in CFB is waning at a very fast rate.

This is a version of politics. And I've dealt with this for my entire CFB fan life of 60 years .

And I'm sick of it.

The NBA is far better. No politics. No opinion polls. No voting. No influening public opinion by ESPN.

What a sorry sorry way to run a sport. Only college presidents ( receiving large sums of money under the current system ) would think debating about who is the best team is a good way to do things.

No one said the SEC isn't a great conference...but it does like Berry says, get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to polls and there second tier teams. SC? Look where it has been ranked all year....There are Big 12 teams that could or should beat them...KSU, OU, OSU, TT, TCU. you could add Georgia as a team those teams could or should beat as well. A$M...been there done that.....Florida...beatable, too. A$M shoild have beaten them. In fact, the addition of A$M and the style of offense they play makes it very apparent that the Big 12 matches up very well with the SEC. Wnat say you....lets see the 2 conferences schedule more non conference games between them? Then the polls would bear a better reflection earlier. As it is some of the SEC teams, not the big guns of LSU, Bama, get a free ride in the polls off of the reputation of those teams. The polls determine the BCS rankings. When 7 of the top 15, with most being in the top 10 are ranked based on that premise, like Mississipi State, is skews the opportunities of other teams in other conferences, or undefeated teams from getting in. Last years NC was a crock...OSU should have played LSU. That would have been a great game.
