Love good Defense and have really liked Mike Stoops but the past couple of weeks , not getting the job done.
You have got away from pressure on the QB and the running backs. You have to find a way to get on their side of the ball and cause havoc , i dont care what type of offense their running. I have never in my many years of watching OU, have i seen our front 7 get pushed back like they have this year.

Not the greatest analysis here. Someone mentioned turnovers. Landry gave Baylor a short field in the 3rd quarter with the interception on the OU35 yardline. Take away this short drive and their percentage falls to 36%. Mathematically, there aren’t many drives in a game to consider (only 11). So throw out a mere play and your percentage could drop by 10% or so. So this is why I say this isn’t the greatest analysis. Sure, you can always ask for more. But Art Briles is one heck of a coach and Baylor has one heck of an offense.

Interesting that Bob said this, but Mike said after the game that OU’s defense got exposed. The players said giving up 252 is unacceptable. But the head coach was just fine with that performance?

The discouraging thing about this season is that OU is repeatedly running up against teams with better skill players and running backs that make our defense look inept at times. It’s not a matter of scheme or attitude. OU is simply not as fast or athletic as it has been in the past.

My point about nepotism isn’t that Mike isn’t a great defensive coordinator. It is the fact the head coach is in a position of not being able to make a public comment about any problem on defense. This is the same as hiring a relative for any position in any business. It creates a problem that doesn’t need to be there. If OU gives up 50 points a game next year would Bob Stoops make a change of defensive coordinators? No he would never fire his brother. I doubt the OU defense will give up that many points but why create a problem when you don’t have to? Bob Stoops says he doesn’t want to coach against his brothers because it causes a problem but then why have them on staff? That causes a problem too.

COACH SWITZER WAS GREAT IN THE 80S…THIS ISN’T THE 80S. TIME TO GROW UP AND KNOW THAT TIME DOES PASS US BY AND THAT LOOKING IN THE PAST DOESN’T HELP MUCH. WHY COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMETHING YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER? AT LEAST WE WIN EVERY YEAR

We miss you coach Switzer,please come back so we start playing good championship defence again.These soft porous Ds OU plays now are embarassing to watch.All the championship teams can and have shut down this predictable offence that we aint got no business running at OU.Thanks Trammel for pointing out how no good this D is playing.Couch Switzer where are you?For one thing we need some size on there.Why is Stoops so bent on recruiting small players,high school safeties converted to linebackers at OU?This drives me up the wall.We miss you coach Switzer!!!!!!!

It’s also about turnovers. Eliminate the two with Baylor and OU wins by a respectable 15-18 points. Eliminate the three against K-State and OU wins by 10. Break even over the next three games and OU is 10-2 (8-1 conference) and into the Fiesta or Sugar Bowl. OU needs to run off the pass over the next two games for easy victories. Go Sooners!
