ising: Kansas State's offense

Oh, you thought West Virginia or Oklahoma State had the Big 12's best offense? Are you sure about that? The Mountaineers and Cowboys' fast-paced offenses are fun, and so is Baylor's, but the Wildcats are bucking the stereotype and leading the Big 12 in points per game. Their lead is just one-tenth of a point per game ahead of Oklahoma State and three-tenths ahead of third-place Baylor, but 44.4 points is impressive and K-State has scored at least 50 points in three of its past four Big 12 games.

Statistically, WV has the best run D in the league (they just don't defend anything else). Tech & ISU are virtually identical to OSU's in rush defense, and have not had the luxury of padding their defensive stats against all 3 of the - by far - weakest offenses in the league thus far (ISU - who obviously can't play themselves, KU, and TCU).

FWIW, I'd take ISU's run D (with a healthy Knott) over anybody in the league regardless of stats.

KState has only played one good defensive team...OU. And they have not yet played an offensive team as good nor as balanced as the Cowboys. OSU has a real good run defense versus a very good KState running game...I am not saying that OState will shut the KState run game completely down but I believe it will not run right through like it did against W.Virgina. And, while Klein has good passing stats. he is not a great passing QB he just does well when team play more in the box to stop the run. OState will not have to rely on overconcentrating on the run and the secondary if playing well will make it difficult for Klein to keep his completion average up.

As for offense...OState has a running offense second only to KState...KState has not played a run team as good as the Pokes. Then there is Lunt who is an excellent yet young QB. If Lunt and receivers have a hot game together KState will be in trouble. KState has yet to play a team like OState which is not over reliant on either passing or running and does well in both phases.

The real test in the KState game is that the Wildcats are a mature team that is well coached and does not make a lot of mistakes. OState plays a solid game and they may put another win in their column.
