Nebraska fan that kind of wants to see a matchup with an undefeated ND in the Rose Bowl…

1) There is no such thing as “definite” pass interference. There is a chance it will be called whenever there is contact before the ball gets to the receiver. Sometimes it’s thrown for a mere touch feeling for the receiver’s movements, sometimes the receiver is tackled a second too early. Either way the best you can say is that this play would have been called 50% of the time. No problem with the refs not calling it here.

2) Not an interception. If you watch the clip from the OU endzone, the ball touches the ground, which is what causes Manti to lose control. Bad job by the replay booth not to see it, but they can always hang their hat on play stands a lot easier than overturned. Should have been overturned, but it was close enough that I can somewhat understand why it wasn’t.

Robby, your comment that it was no way an interception. I have watched that play over and over again from all angles in freeze frame. At no time am I ever able to see the ball actually hit the ground while the Notre Dame player is not in control of the ball. It may have happened that he lost control but you cannot see that on the replays. Since the call on the field was an interception it was an interception. Even if the ball had been ruled an incomplete pass the only thing that would have changed was the margin of victory. The game would have been closer but that is all. OU got beat. Not on that play but all game at the line of scrimmage. Until OU can put players on the field on both sides of the ball that can control the line of scrimmage OU will never win the National Championship or win against elite teams. That is the one major item that can be taken from this game. Championships aren’t about skill position players it is about the offensive line and defensive front seven.

First, Gary, you guys? How can you possibly determine what I thought before the game? Who is crying about an interception? Notre Dame played well. However, there is no way that was an interception. That is not crying; that is stating a fact.

Second, John, LOL at you implying that Oklahoma State is anywhere near OU’s caliber. It’s the one’s like you that give Oklaoma State fans a bad name. I can understand a little homerism, but to say that Oklahoma State is even close to being in the same conversation as OU is ludicris. Winning one conference championship does not validate elite status… Not even close.

Lastly, WOW! What is with all the Bob Stoops hate? His team was on the wrong side of some judgment calls. Had they gone the other way, Notre Dame would have been on the wrong side. I hear no excuses. He never said they were “bad” calls. Say what you will about Coach Stoops, but if he left OU today (whether fired or quit), there are no fewer than 100 college FBS teams and no fewer than 20 NFL teams that would be chomping at the bit to make him their head coach.

In reading this it sounds like Bob Stoops isn’t the only one who is an excuse maker. Sorry, but holding is holding. The right call on the TD called back. A late call but the correct call. Also, on that one notice Bell went outside and that was the way the hold would keep the defender from going. On the interception remember the referee had a different view from the TV cameras. He may have seen something that was not visable to the camera. If you look at the replay over and over again you cannot determine if the call was correct or not and that was what the replay official said. Tie goes to the call on the field. This game was not determined by either call. The better team won. The team that controlled the line of scrimmage was Notre Dame and not OU. This wasn’t the Oregon game of several years ago where OU was the better team and the officials on the field and in the replay booth made bad call after bad call. OU fans, coaches and players need to face up to the fact the better team won, not because of the refs, but because they played better with a better game plan. I am a huge OU fan and HATE Notre Dame but the game is what it is. We got BEAT again. By Notre Dame and NOT the refs. Be a good sport and say, maybe next year.

Sooner fans football is not like it was depth wise bc of scholarship limitations, no one has depth anymore on both sides ,, couple injuries make any team vulnerable each week!
Get use to it the NCAA want it like this, unpredictable week to week! Bob Stoops is as good a coach as your going to get and he is class act all way! Be careful or you will end up w a Blake type of coach! OU has tradition for sure but that means nothing to recruits born in 1990′s!

Berry, I had exactly the same uneasy feeling listening to Coach Stoops making excuses and whining about ‘just being on the wrong side’ of every call. Whatever happened to “No Excuses”? Notre Dame played better and deserved to win the game. Scoreboard says it all. Keep telling it like it is Berry!

OU, over the last 8 years is averaging 3 losses a year because they have 1. failed at recruiting!! Playing DE’s @ TE., TE’s @ Center, and DB’s @ LB. is, obviously, not the answer!!! 2. Been too stubborn to replace starters with players who have shown themselves better!!! and 3. too often been unable to adapt their game planning or not even making an effort!!!! Game day in Norman is like Groundhog!!!!!!!!

Agree with you Berry. I am still smarting from Saturday’s performance. But you clearly got it right. It was holding and it was an interception and no interference (as long as the refs call it the same way for the other side)…they have to be consistent with their calls. No matter…the little things added up and it was the same little thing all night…a short little sideline pass…just enough….to convert 3rd downs by ND. I thought I was going to throw up in the 3rd quarter. Mike has done a great job cutting down on all of the big plays that killed us last year…just don’t know why we couldn’t stop that little pass. ND didn’t score in the third quarter butmitnhad the ball for almost 8 minutes which gassed our defense in the 4th quarter. That is where the game was won and lost.
