We played not to lose. We played conservatively…almost like the coaching staff wanted to take the pressure off of LJ when we decided we couldn’t run on ND….they didn’t trust LJ not to make a mistake. If ND has a weakness on defense it is its dbs. Our game plan from the beginning was to throw to Jalen Saunders…aka, Ryan Broyles…a safe bet for LJ…he is a master at throwing in the slot. With no TEs and no DeMarco Murray, that plan is DOA. Just watch USC-ND…Barkley and his receivers will torch the ND dbs. Millard had to used as a blocker most of the night…one more offensive play maker that couldn’t be used. OU needed to find a way to keep its offense on the field. That meant abandoning the run (no one has run on ND, duh), and putting the game on LJ’s arm…he needed to stretch the field…throw past the down marker…take some deep shots to keep the ND defense honest. Stoops says we needed to run on more plays…not of it can’t keep your offense on the field and you defense can’t stop a short sideline pass on 3rd down. Really???

I’m hoping that LSU will beat Bama and either KState, Notre Dame or Oregon will run the table. Anyone except an SEC team will be fine with me.

My pick…KSU and Bama. USC will embarrass ND. Barkley and those receivers will bass the ND dbs. With a different play caller in the box, OU could have also…we have 8 quality receivers…just dinked and dunked…sliced and diced….no bombs until late in the game….imagine Stills and LJ could actually hook up for a big play. Hummmmm…what if….
Anyone watch how sorry the ND dbs were against MIAMI?
