Great, I missed the game replay! I didn’t know they were broadcasting classic games like that! Any chance of them replaying the ’56 Notre Dame game? Where can I find tv programming schedule?

The penalty flags were red in those days. Remember when they turned yellow.

ND had some HUGE linemen. Looked big even by today’s standards even though they probably weighed 230-250.

The penalty flags were indeed red at one time. I don’t recall what they changed, but yellow was deemed to be more visible.

Why did OU quick kick…twice? After losing about 8 yards on I believe first down from around the 16, they quick kicked from the 8 on a 2nd and 18.

And how many fumbles were there? And passes that looked like dying ducks.

There was a punt from OU that hit the ND return man and that OU recovered but given to ND like in the 4th quarter when it was 33-0. One of the OU players threw his helmet to the ground in disgust and there was no penalty.

A lot of other interesting and funny things. Football sure has changed!

Wouldn’t have won it today…period…didn’t 2 OU players split the vote that year…Harris and McDonald?

And no to the white helmets! Would look too much like Alabama and Penn State…white with a stripe! Love the interlocking OU! Never replace it.

There were a few plays when an O-lineman would move before the snap but no illegal procedure was called.

You could hear the OU tom-tom in the second half, when OU was rolling.
I’m guessing it was Little Red?

The fact that Hornug was the Heisman that year was another of many reasons to hate Notre Dame. He had SEVEN turnovers against OU, the Irish went 2-8 that year, he was totally outplayed by Tommy McDonald, and still won the prize.
The great Jim Brown finished SIXTH in the Heisman race that year. A player on a 2-8 team who had a horrible game against OU on national t.v. shouldn’t have won it.

I really enjoyed that. I wished for a roster with the players numbers.

I noticed Little Red on the sideline and also another person with an Indian war bonnet on. I wonder what the story was on that.
