Jerry at 3:25 pm is right. I said the same thing Saturday night after the game. We are on the same road of FSU under Bobby Bowden. Bowden's loyalty to his QBs got him in a lot of trouble.

I don't buy the argument that OU's talent is down...it's depth is down...not its talent...Tony Jefferson should be an All-American before he leaves OU...so should Hurst and Colvin. David King should be All-Big 12. There is a wealth of talent at the skill positions on offense...most would be starting elsewhere. Several should be All Big 12. Some said the same thing anout Blake while he was at OU....no talent...no athletes...that was the knock on the 2000 championship team...FSU had all the award winners and athletes...only after OU won the NC did folks see we had talented players and athletes. Talent isn't down. There arent many Petersons, Bradfords, Harrises wlaling around...those were superstars. OU gets its fair share...we have some that are backups that will open our eyes like White and Bradford and Broyles when they get to start. The problem is we have recruited too many players at a few positions. We don't have enough depth on the lines and we are weak for the first time that I remember at DE under Stoops. That is where the recruiting problem is. Some of the guys playing are having to play more than what coaches more than likely anticipated them to play...some didn't work out....some left.

Stoops has lost a lot of coaches and coordinators while at OU. Some left, i think because of a quiet internal pressure to leave and took lesser coaching jobs where they struggled and eventually left. There is some urgency inside the program being brought on by the constant criticism by fans and big contributors. That is what pushed BV out along with Willie Martinez. So I don't buy it that loyalty to coaches is a problem....OU just doesn't air its dirty laundry...we turn a coach leaving into a promotion...only BV was seen as a demotion and he left....after a complete meltdown on defense in 3 games, which were unexplainable and a defense that had struggled for a few years with the same problems.

Stoops has to know that the spread, and a hurry up that is not always functioning in a hurry up mode, has it limitations as defenses figure it out. We have to get better production out of the QB.... And that is the real problem with this offense. LJ is average at best and Stoops is settling for average. LJ needs some improvement. Has he really had to compete to keep his job at QB? Is Bell really that bad? Or Allen? Or Thompson ? Who,is pushing LJ? This is where Stoops has missed it....we have an average QB. It showed Saturday night...

This is a once great program that has dropped to an also ran. It isn't that they aren't trying. It is because just like everyone else the coaches and players are more comfortable doing what they have always done. Stoops won a national championship doing things this way and he isn't about to change. It doesn't matter that it doesn't work anymore and that every team they play knows exactly what OU will do and when they will do it. It took a 5-7 season before another stubborn coach decided to clean house and start over and now Texas is on the way back up. I hope it doesn't take that long before Bob Stoops realizes he cannot win with leftovers. It is time to clean out the fridge and start cooking fresh. It didn't help to bring back a former defensive coordinator instead of going out and hiring a fresh new mind, even if he is your unemployed brother. It doesn't help to take a great quarterback coach who won you a national championship and making him your offensive coordinator instead of bringing in fresh new ideas. OU is a program living on yesterdays glory.

I listened to Stoops presser, heard all the excuses thinking all along about his speech he made in '99 when he was hired. Remember the "no excuses"part of his speech, after 10 yrs. of Gibbs, Schnelly & Blake. Guess what, the excuses are back. We all saw, with our own eyes, what happened. For Stoops to cover by avoiding the obvious will only make it worse. They have problems deeper than Jones. I hope he's prepared for some Boo's, cause they are coming. Fans & supporters pay and donate lots of $$$$$ for a better product than what they saw last season and this. Stoops is making some of his biggest supporters, DOK, Sports Talk Radio, look foolish. OU fans, you're screwed!

I didn't think that the Fox announcers favored K-State, but I didn't like them either. Fox simply does not know how to cover college football. It's an NFL network, and it shows. Please, Fox, do away with the giant robots, the giant football/rocket-ships, the exploding scoreboards, the loud music, and all the other crap that you use to keep drunken NFL fans amused.

And get some better announcers. Those two guys may have been nice fellows, but nice doesn't cut it. We need announcers who know the college game, who don't cut away while a penalty is being assessed and never let you know what happened, and who talk about other college football games instead of the crap that the NFL will be serving up on Sunday.

As far as the Sooners go, I'll say what I've been saying since the disgraceful flop-job against USC. Bob Stoops will never win another national championship. He's got a staff full of mediocre cronies, and his players do not play as a team. And his recruiting stinks these days too. What of that is he able to recognize, much less willing to change? What lies ahead for OU is a string of 10-3 and 9-4 seasons for as long as Bob is running the show.

Bob Stoops is a great coach, but so was Bobby Bowden and this program is looking more and more like FSU the last 6 years Bowden was there. Long time assistant coaches and nepotism in hiring. Stale and predictable on both sides of the ball. If the system worked and you won a National Championship with it why change? FSU went from a constant top 5 team nationally and always winning the conference to a 15-25 team in a good year and losing 2-3 conference games every year. This is what is happening at OU. If Bob Stoops doesn't make the difficult decisions like Mack Brown did at Texas this program is on a long slide to a mid level program. Mack Brown fired coaches that had been with him for 25 years and remade his staff. Can anyone see Stoops doing the same thing? Listen to him at a press conference. He doesn't see it is a problem with the program not just making a litle improvement here or there. Why has only 1 time a team won a BCS National Championship with a coach who had been at the school for longer than 7 years? I think it is because the program gets stale with a lack of change. We OU fans had better get used to a lot more games like KState beating OU. Maybe Stoops will finally make some changes when it is Kansas instead of KState coming into to Norman and beating us.
