Jerry, couldn't agree with you more. Just like Nebraska, Michigan, and where Texas has been the last few years, OU has fallen way backwards to a mediocre football program. OU has gone from a competing for national championships to making the insight.com & El Paso type bowls. It's sad when they're not even the premier football program in it's own state. With the type history, prestige, and amount of money the college invests in it's football program, there is no excuse to not be up there with the Alabamas, Floridas, LSU's, Oregons, and so on. OU should be at least top 10 year in and year out. Maybe average season here and there if it is a rebuilding year. A change of leadership is sometimes necessary if a program grows STALE.

Jason: They are not NEW. They were both in the program when Stoops got here. They have had different jobs but they are still a part of the original organization. New also means an outsider. Someone who will bring NEW ideas. The basics are still the same. Same blocking assignments. Same types of pass rush techniques. Same tendencies. There must be some reason why there has only been 1 time in the BCS era a team has won the Championship with a coach who had been there longer than 7 years. This program has grown STALE. Without fresh new blood it is going to become an also ran every year. The last three years this program has underperformed expectations. One season you can say it is a fluke. Three seasons and you have a problem. It can be done after this season or it can be done after several more mediocore seasons but it will eventually be done. When you are having to fight Baylor for third or fourth place in the conference then you have a real problem. This team this year will be fighting TCU and OSU for sixth place in the conference. Maybe if we lose to Kansas then even Bob Stoops will realize he must make massive changes. Just staying the same won't get it done.

Jerry, so what you're suggesting is that OU should bring in a new offensive coordinator and a new defensive coordinator after 12 years? OU *has* a new offensive coordinator (2nd year), and *has* a new defensive coordinator (1st year).

The offense is different than what Wilson ran, the defense is different than what Venibles ran. They're not entirely new systems, but they're definitely not the same things teams have been seeing for 12 years.

It was a beautiful sight... Landry looked as bad in this game as he did against OSU last year... didn't he 'take credit' for that loss, too? What exactly does that mean anyway? I guess nothing.

When you lose one game you should have won it might be a fluke. When you continue lose games you should have won you have a problem. The problem is OU is now a middle of the pack program. Ask yourself is there a reason why in the BCS era only one time has a team won the championship with a head coach who had been there longer then 7 years. It might be because the program goes stale. The plays are all run the same way at the same time. Defenses are all run the same at the same time with the same assignments. This gives the opponents the ability to outgame plan you. Every 8-10 years all programs need to undergo a major overhaul. Texas did that last year and they are a different team now. Until Bob Stoops makes that difficult decision to clean house and start over OU will continue down the path FSU took the last 6 years under Bobby Bowden. OU fans need to get used to games like KState this year and Texas Tech last year. It is looking more and more like this is an 8-4 team at best that will have to play above themselves to stay above 6-6. The only easy game left is Kansas. If OU loses that game then I would hope even Bob Stoops will realize CHANGE is a must.

Really, Jones literally gave the football game away to K-state, with the exception of Blake Bell's fumble, which also hurt. Assuming Bell would have scored on that play had he not fumbled, OU would have had a touchdown right there. Also, if you take away the fluke one-in-a -million damn bad luck fumble by Landry where K-state scored, then OU still wins this game. They ran the ball effectively at times and they moved through the air as well. The entire loss was fluke. OU (as an offensive and defensive unit)didn't play that bad. Take away the above-mentioned flukes, and OU wins the game by 2 touchdowns, probably. I don't feel that panicky about OU. The Big 12 is tough, and no team will run the table this year. As far as Landry Jones being taken out and replaced by Bell or Allen, Stoops will stubbornly stay with Jones, and unfortunately he may give single-handedly give away more games. If that QB was anyone else besides Jones, he'd be on the bench. Jones gave up the NFL to play another year, so Stoops feels obligated. It is what it is.

This isn't about just this loss. It's about year after year, disappointment. The talent level and recruiting has dropped significantly. Big game Bob is a name of the past. Home losses are becoming common. Injuries and suspensions around late July/early August are a given. The coaches and players lead the fans to think they are WAY better than they really are. Lets face it, Bob Stoops won a national title with John Blakes players. I'm honestly believing that he and his coaching staff are not capable of landing a big time recruiting class anymore. I know this makes a lot of Stoops supporters mad, but here it goes. He is not a Bud Wilkerson or Barry Switzer. He will never be. He is not near as good of a coach as everyone gives him credit for. It is time to move on, stop wasting valuable money on someone that cannot produce a quality football team anymore. We could be paying that kind of money to a great coach that could resurrect this program. Hide and watch, everyone will agree with me in 2-3 season when OU goes 3-10.

KS QB doesn't have a problem being a ball carrier. Why can't Jones do that? Was that ask? 8 times the gap between tackles opened up for at least a 10 yd. gain and Jones threw incomplete or for less than 10. Why didn't he run? Was that ask? Acknowledging there are problems and fixing them are two different things. Why does the off. line telegraph the play by there stance? Was that ask?
