Sorry to be late to the party, but I need to question the comment about Stanford being good every 20 years. Let’s look at the last 20 years for instance – 8 Bowl games including the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Blockbuster Bowl(it was big in 1992). A couple of Sun Bowls, Liberty, and Seattle.

Here’s the thing: Stanford has a killer defense and Nunes was serviceable. The offense is now riding on the great running game but in no way is it Luckesque. For comparison, Luck completed more than 70% of his passes last year against USC, and more than 80%(!) of his passes against USC in 2010. Nunes didn’t complete 50%. There should be concerns about the offense should someone shut down the run game or should Taylor get injured. The quarterback is not on the same level and sooner or later that’ll be a problem.

Wow, I’d kill for stats like that for OU. I love Stanford’s style of football. Move Josh Heupel back to QB coach and hire Stanford’s OC now!!

Most impressive is that Stanford is a great university, and football is an afterthought. Stanford is good once every twnty years, and that is plenty. USC is a pro football team with a university attached.
