[...] Berry Tramel on the Lakers: “The big, bad Lakers are back, just like always. Back enough to unseat the Thunder as the Western Conference champ? Not necessarily. But a lineup of Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash and Metta World Chaos is a roving Hall of Fame exhibit. Four guys past their wondrous prime, plus Howard, who has gone from Superman to Superpain. There might be enough fuel in the tank for the Lakers to mount another championship run. Heck, the Celtics dang near made the NBA Finals with an Over-the-Hill Gang; no reason the Dwightmares couldn’t do the same.” [...]

Always value Tramel's opinion because he tries to be impartial with his analysis. That being said, I wish all you OKC homers would try to do the same. You guys keep bashing a franchise that goes all in every year, has nearly unlimited resources, and has 16 titles (10 in the past 22 years). With the new Time Warner cable deal, the Lakers pulled in 3 billion over 20 years ($150M per year) and will pay luxury taxes with no complaint. The Thunder are a great story and have done great things in only 4 years. But lets talk about how they came together, 3 drafts in a row they hit a home run w/ their 4-some but three of those guys were top 4 picks which the Thunder will never get again. And can OKC afford to pay upwards of $100M a year including taxes if they pay Harden/Ibaka what their market value is? Also can the Thunder avoid the injury bug for all of Durant/Westbrook's careers? The law of averages says otherwise. So if the Lakers don't beat the Thunder this year or next, you better believe we have more staying power than any other franchise in the NBA. Being proud of your team is one thing, but OKC fans need to learn humility and earn respect. Calling the Lakers, "Fakers" for what? Because the franchise is unbelievably successful? That's just petty. Even I'll be the first to admit the Thunder are the best run small market team outside of the Spurs.

@Alan Johnson...

Well, you're one to talk! Your team is lucky THEIR asses didnt get swept by Miami! Which is even more pathetic seeing as the Heat barely made it there themselves almost choking to Indiana and then BARELY squeezing by Boston!
Then they just come up and make OKC's ole jump shooting offense look like a joke!
Yall talk about our bench. We just grabbed Meeks. Hes already better than any on your bench other than Harden who plays starter minutes. Damn, I can guarantee you the average NBA fan cant even name the Thunder starting five or bench! Yall talk about Nash not guarding Westbrook. Ok. Well whos gonna stop Nash from dropping 3s in Westbrooks face? And who will stop him from setting up his team (something Russ doesnt do. he scores, thats it). Russ barely getting playing time on the Olympic squad. HOLLA AT ME, "HOMIE"

I can't wait till next season. The Lakers will be really good. It really depends on how healthy Kobe, Dwight, and Steve Nash are when the playoffs start.
Don't forget that the Thunder only one game 2 by 2 points and game 4 by 3 points in the series against L.A. and L.A. was without a good point guard, an athletic center, and a scoring power forward coming off the bench. If the Lakers stay healthy the Thunder are in trouble.

@Ed,

The Lakers identified what weakness of the Thunder this offseason? Also, answer me this, when the Thunder go small and put Durant at the 4, who guards Westbrook, Harden, Durant when they are on the floor at the same time?

Pao proved very willing to do so?

Congrats to the Lakers picking up a Clubhouse Nightmare and another 38 year old veteran point guard. Oh and Jamison is what 36? and he is your best player off of the bench...C'Mon Man, your Lakers are old, you are lucky they didn't get swept last year. Good Luck making it through the regular season injury free let alone retirement free.
