I think it’s worthwhile signing Harden for the challenge of teaching him defense. I love his offensive abilities and his rebounding and his hustle. BUT, you could see Kobe, Parker, and Lebron salivating when he was on them.

Do our owners have the fire in the their collective bellies to keep us growing. That is the ultimate question. We all knew this was going to happen once we hit the finals. Now it goes to purse strings. I pray we are not another New Orleans. Let’s keep our players under contract. Collison is one of the best reserves in the league.

This guy is out of his mine. The Salary cap is going up not down. Teams are offering old men like Nash 12 million a year for three years when when he will be close to 39. Serge and Harden will be in the 8 figure range. We are going to need that natty gas to get up in the $7-8/mcf range if we want our owners to shell out big dollars. Or these group needs to get Uncle Harold involved sooner rather than later.

There is one thing missing from the discussion: television contracts. The Lakers just signed a very lucrative one, and I think the Heat will be getting a high-paying deal as well very soon (if they haven’t already). The Thunder will not get this. They have a growing following nationally and internationally, but the television contracts largely rely on the number of television sets available regionally. The Heat are getting all of the credit for the Finals ratings. Where does that leave smaller markets in relation to larger ones? With a lot less capital to use in addressing issues like who to pay how much and whether or not the luxury tax is truly an issue. There needs to be a hard cap in order for everyone to have a chance to compete.
