I take it you missed the the announcement that WVU and Alabama would play in the 2014 Chick fil-a Kickoff Classic. Both schools feel that playing the toughest schedule possible is the best way to position yourself for the playoff, if you're worthy.

OU will keep to their basic plan. One real game, one semi-game and one non-game. If this were the basic plan for most teams in a major conference I could live with that. I also wish there were a regional mid-major in this area. That would include Tulsa, Ark State, SMU, Houston, Louisiana Layfayette, UTEP, etc. Each Big XII school would play one of these each year. That would be a boost to each of these schools. But ONLY one. I wouldn't mind a tie in with the SEC like the B1G-PAC12 alliance. Each Big XII school would have to play 1 SEC school on a rotating basis. The only problem with that is it would make it difficult to schedule an FSU, Miami, or Notre Dame. Who would want to play FSU and Alabama as part of a non-conference schedule? And of course UT would schedule Ole Miss and Kentucky as their SEC games.

I honestly think a CCG will factor more into a "strength of schedule" as well which Mack Brown might not like. But hopefully bigger league schedules and cross-league competition deals will crowd out the FCS cupcakes I see too many of these days.

The simple answer is no. The SEC has a tough conference schedule why would they want to add a tougher non-conference schedule. The SEC Champion will always be in the playoff and usually one other SEC team will be in. Texas will never make it to where they might lose more games. Notre Dame wants to push for teams to get a tougher non-conference schedule because the MUST have a tough scheduel to get in. The Pac 12-B1G tie in makes them adding any other schools problematic. The ACC really needs to beef up its schedule to be considered for the final four but why should other teams play them.
