The Champions Bowl needs to die a quiet death. It was a creation to offset the Rose Bowl if it was decided to go to a Plus One instead of the 4 team playoff. What a stupid name if the conference champions never play in it. It sounds like the Sugar Bowl wants to take away the number 2 teams from the Big XII playing in Dallas.

DeLoss Dodds rules because UT pays the bills. They are the biggest money making school in the country. Just follow the money. Any conference that includes Texas will be disfuntional. They have the arrogance to go with the money. Also, I would think the Cotton Bowl will get a playoff rotation once every three years. I would think the new system would not allow a location that hosts one of the semi-final games to also host the Championship Game. So, it is possible the Cotton Bowl could be a semi-final game every third year and Jerry Jones stadium could host the Championship Game in the other years. I would hate to think some years the New Orleans could be both a semi-final location and the location of the Championship Game.

Next time you talk with Joe Castiglione, please ask him why Bill Powers and DeLoss Dodds rule as undisputed dictators of the Big 12.

The Big 12 needs to expand, there are good schools available, but Texas says no, and the answer is that there will be no expansion, unless it’s to add Notre Dame, which is Texas’ pet project to the exclusion of all else.

Texas blew up the SWC, then blew up the old Big 12, to ensure that it had its own little fiefdom with its own little TV network. I imagine that any other school that dares to stand up to Texas’ bullying will soon be gone as well.

So I’d like to know from either Joe C. or President Boren–why does OU put up with it?
