I was born in 1954, so by the time I was watching and playing baseball, Mickey Mantle was a bit past his prime.  He was the aging star (I don&#039;t think that &quot;superstar&quot; had been coined yet) who could still hit the ball a mile, if not as often as he had just a few years before.

I remember the &#039;63 World Series where the Yanks got swept by the Dodgers, and the &#039;64 Series where the Yanks lost in 7 games to the Cardinals.  And, after that, there were no more World Series--just a long, sad, decline--for Mickey Mantle.]]></description>
