Again...this is a one season snapshot and doesn't really show how schools view the non-conference season. A good analysis would include at least the last 5 years for each school. I say grow each conference to 16 teams and have 11 conference games and only 1 non-conference game each year. That way every game would count.

Dave.....Alabama play Michagan IN Texas....they don't play Texas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alabama plays Michigan (in Arlington, TX) Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, and Western Carolina. This is a typical Alabama schedule...one good game and three pushovers. That is better than most teams that play four pushovers, but still no better than 33rd hardest. Michigan has a harder schedule because they play Alabama and Alabama plays Michigan.

To LaffALot and Terry: Berry said this list was from the major conference teams, sorry, but Tulsa is not in a major conference. No one would disagree that they have a tough schedule, but most of the mid and lower level conference teams will have a "tougher" schedule because they are the ones playing the bigger conferences in the non-conference games.

To Dave: Bama is playing Michigan IN texas, they are not playing texas. The other 3 games are pretty much a joke.

Great list Berry but...

Since Michigan, Syracuse, Miami and Michigan State have won the Non Conference Toughest Schedule analysis for 2012, they should be rewarded in some way. Just to keep it fair.

Maybe a new 8 team playoff against the top 4 teams at the end of the year? (Alabama, LSU, OSU, and Stanford for example last year) against these teams that play the toughest non conference schedules. Just to keep it fair and reward them.....Michigan, Syracuse, Miami and Michigan State will lose every game but we gave them a chance.

The point is College Football really needs to move to a multiple team playoff in the end to determine who the best team really is.

Thanks Berry for exposing the non conference inequities so maybe the BCS will take notice and make changes to the system.

OU's non conference schedule is easy. It is NOT the 27th most difficult in the nation. Jeez. Notre Dame is good but not the old Notre Dame. Whoever ranked this doesnt have much of a clue. Fla A& who? UTEP? Comparatively speaking Tulsa's non conference schedule is much tougher no WAY tougher than OU's. Btw im a Sooner fan.

Typical,
List doesn't even include Tulsa's non conference schedule which includes @ Iowa St, @ Arkansas, & Fresno St @ home.
Yep, just another way for the Daily Oklahoma to ignore that "other" D-1 team in the state.
