Again.....a lot of nothing. A one year snapshot doesn't really show anything. If you wanted a true analysis you would look at the last five years. OU has a weak schedule this year as does WVU. That has more to do with conference realignment than a desire for a weak schedule. Some schools for years play tough schedules.....LSU being one of them. And some schools play weak schedules....Texas being one of them. But you can't really get a true picture in one year. Oregon has a weak schedule this year but historically they have played a pretty tough schedule. An article that gets people to read but that doesn't really do a good job of reporting.

Cut the Buffs a break, we are in full on rebound mode. Its not like this is a regular thing. Last years OOC was stupid hard...@Hawaii, CSU, Cal (previously scheduled counted as OOC), and @Ohio State. Oh, and no bye week. We only have 3 OOC spots now and we're stuck with the stupid CSU game in Mile High for another 5 years. The Fresno game was scheduled a while ago for Cali recruiting exposure that we don't need as much now. We'll be starting up the B1G cross-scheduling agreement 2015 or 2016 which is when this break in the schedule will tighten up. That said I'd love to be able to dump the CSU game for another BCS level opponent.

It's not like we ever really got rewarded scheduling harder in the Big 12 while schools like Tech would serve up 4 super soft cupcakes to ease into the season.

@Alan Don't worry, that weak schedule will just help out the Ducks in the long run. Unless they lose to USC, SoS won't really matter, as the SEC shows time and time again.

Can't understand why UW is #4 here... LSU is likely #1 in most preseason polls. So, it stands to reason the A in their ABC schedule is the hardest of anyone. PSU should be pudding, but SDSU is a team that has won a lot of games the last few years.

Good point King, it's hard to tell who has the best conference since we don't play each other head to head across the board every year. I think the Big 12 should add FSU and Clemson and get back to a Big 12 championship game like we had before last year. Plus Go to at least an 8 team playoff for the BCS. Until we do, the PAC, B1G and SEC will make your argument against the Big 12 every season.

I agree Randall. I thought we had a Strength of Schedule last year when Oklahoma State won the Big 12 but was kept from playing LSU for the NC because we lost to ISU on the road in OT while Alabama lost at home to Lsu during the season but still was given a do over for the NC. In theory the strength of schedule is correct. The computers said OSU was deserving but the "eye test" said Alabama according to the voters that decided. That is why I don't trust the strength of schedule argument anymore and want a playoff system.

Stillwater Bob:

You don't need a "true playoff system" (whatever that might be) to encourage better OOC scheduling. All you've got to do is put a Strength of Schedule component back into the BCS ratings system.

And many of the playoff scenarios being discussed do not encourage better OOC scheduling.

Thanks Berry for your conference against conference analysis. You put a lot of time and work into providing the facts of non conference scheduling. Your analysis shows so far that the stronger the conference, the weaker they are at scheduling non conference games. Makes sense. Looking forward to the SEC analysis. Maybe they will buck the trend....but it appears until we get to a true playoff system (4 teams, 8 teams, 16 teams, 32 teams, 64 teams?) this is what we can expect for College Football.
