I have lost the reason I moved back to OKC. I grew up outside Oklahoma but moved back here and finished high school. When I lived in New York, Bernie Goetz shot a bunch of kids in the subway and Tawana Brewley faked a rape and they closed the beaches because HIV infected needles cluttered the shore in Jersey. When I moved to Louisiana, three cops were convicted of murder while on the job in New Orleans, I lived in Dallas when they were shooting drivers on the freeway. I moved back here and watched OKC grow up. Now a sixteen year old punk with a gun has destroyed one of the best public displays of civic pride I've ever seen. Punks now control us all.

Perhaps the OKC mayor and the owners of the Thunder will be able to work out some form of arrangement where the cost of extra security will be split to the enjoyment of the taxpayers. Set up police barricades and charge admission to defray the cost of extra security.

Of course, limiting - or the elimination of - the consumption of alcohol would also significantly improve crowd control. Sports fans could still enjoy the night, but folks looking for watered-down beer and a mob-like atmosphere could find entertainment elsewhere.

Who says it has to be all one way or another?

Gangs suck. They ruin the fun for everyone. As a victim of gang violence, they should all just be shot. Or better yet, if they are wanting to carry guns, they can go over to the counrties that do not like us, and see how "brave" they really are and how much "respect" they actually get. Guns don't kill people. Stupid gang members do.

Somehow NYC deals with 8-10X this amount of people in Time Square for New Year's Eve. Don't they gate sections off so the police can control the comings and goings?
far the only things i see are

2. get more cops from thunder ally to bricktown and maybe find other security help with thunder ally and the arena. (however that may be
little to clam anyone's nerves plus the Illuminutty fokes will make a case out about the added security)

3. set up a gun free zone in bricktown and downtown during events and
have check points set up on Reno av. on the highway off ramps in the
area. (the nra would love that and it would be a traffic nightmare, maybe check at a gate in thunder alley)

4. profiling people and doing random checks of people in the area. (that is a lawsuit in the making).

5. stop letting people hang around the streets during games and stop people who are hanging around without reason and who are starting fights. also tell the staff at the local bars to notify anyone leaving mad or who is fighting on there way out.

6. use the outside security to help business in the bricktown area so that you can get to them before they outside and feeling bold. also you can check people who are leaving early from the place if they look or act like there going to start something.

7. try to curb the number of people who can hang out or shut down parts of the area. (this would be a pain to the cops there and anyone who was late but it could help)
