I very much doubt those days are over completely, Chris. I know we have a lot of talent, but we still don't have a field general selected. Those teams who already have a seasoned veteran in the backfield have a beat up on us right off the bat. You can have high expectations. I won't fault you for that. It must be nice to have that much confidence in a lot of unknowns. But after being a Poke fan for over 30 years I have to see the machine running before I believe in bold predictions.

Nick Nick Nick
The days of Pokes hedging our bets at the start of the year are over my friend. This team is DEEP and TALENTED. 10 wins is the over under IMO. And yes everyone should expect them to defend their crown. Nothing else can be expected until the teams get a few games under their belt and then we can adjust our expectations accordingly. But until then things look great in Cowboyland so far.

A simple answer for a simple question: No. They won't win the title, but they will be competitive. No one expects them to win another Big 12 Title, at least not the realists among us. Last year was very special. This year I hope we go 8-4. That would be a great season for me. More likely we'll be 7-5, which would be good.

The answer is of course they CAN. The odds are very very long. Can a team win a national title with an inexperienced QB. Ask Alabama. I will say it should be easier with an exeperienced QB. OU even won a national title with a freshman QB once. This year though with the competition in the Big XII with the addition of TCU and WVU and OU and Texas being better I doubt OSU is able to repeat. If things fall just right for them it could happen though.

Technically, Michael Bishop was the best QB, and K-state was the best team in 1998, but if you remember, they actually lost to A&M, so they were not conference champions. So your actual answer should be Branndon Stewart, who was a veteran QB as well so your article doesn't really lose it's luster that much.
