Whichever team scores last to tie it up and go into overtime should give the first possesion to the other team. With the old rules possibly more would have went for the win.

I guess I am old school. I think there should not be overtime in any level of football except for playoff games. Think back to the Orange Bowl with Nebraska going for two to win when a tie would have probably given them at least a split national championship. Why should high school and college players risk injury playing two or three overtimes? If games could end in ties for 100 years why can’t they still end in ties?

Since home team has home field advantage, let the visiting team have first crack in overtime. Wouldn’t that level the playing field. Wouldn’t that be fair? Heck, in baseball, the visiting team gets to go on offense first anyways.

If you think the College OT stinks you lose all credibility with me. And comparing it with the NFL version it is several magnitudes more exciting. The only tweak I would make to the College version would be to start the possessions at the 40 instead of the 25.
