Notre Dame? uh no. They would add nothing to the B12. The BE is still waiting for the good things they thought they might get by having some of their sports, and a "scheduling" agreement (football) with them. You already have a good bowl line-up and programs with bigger names. you don't need them and the headaches and empty promises they bring.

The answer is rather simple...add those that are powerful and not happy. FSU and Clemson are not happy about the dilution of football power in the ACC but neither wants to give up the educational advantages of being in the ACC.

Simple answer is to add 4 teams. Take FSU and Clemson but also take Georgia Tech and Pitt. (Both are AAU universities and would give the B12 4 AAU schools) This would creat an amazing western division that adds football strength and exciting rivalries.
Then let the Big East and ACC merge a little to form one true basktball conference with Uconn, Lville, Cinci and USF joining.

It doesn't really matter who has the title of Big XII Commissioner. The power belongs to Deloss Dodds. No matter who is commissioner if Dodds wants to expand then the conference will expand. If Dodds doesn't want expansion the Big XII will stay at 10 teams. Also, Dodds will have the final say on what teams join. Texas has the money and they are the ONLY team in the conference that has options. OU found out last year when the tried to bluff Texas that OU has not options. So, I say just get rid of the conference office save the money and let Dodds run the conference directly out of Austin.

The problem of hanging on to WVU in the next round of expansion and the question of what UT is going to do keeps the Big 12 in turmoil. Until those two questions can be answered, anytime there's an appealing opening in another conference, a Big 12 team or two could be lured away making it harder to keep the Big 12 in tact. The way I see it is the Big 12 has to keep WVU...we need them maybe more than they us. To keep them we have to move east. UT is a loose canon. They will squelch on a bet anytime it fits their purpose. They can try the independent route or kiss up to the Big 10 who would take them in a heartbeat royally ticking off NU. They can exit the Big 12 and head west once the LHN dies or they renegotiate the deal with ESPN who is losing a butt load on it presently. I don't think they would go to the SEC even if offered. How many 10 win seasons could they muster in the SEC West? The SEC got its Texas team anyway.

OU and OSU either go to the PAC 12 if UT goes or they are headed to the SEC if UT goes independent or goes to the Big 10. I don't think Stoops stays if we end up in the SEC. He stays if we go to the PAC 12 or obviously in the Big 12 makes it as a viable conference. UT knows that...so what do you think their move will be? Where is DKR when you need him? LOL!!

adding notre dame in everything except football is a TERRIBLE idea...do we want to continue to let the nation know that the big 12 is not what it used to be, or shall we move forward and strive toward greatness again...not many southern schools regard notre dame as that great (just rich)....i like adding louisville as they are consistantly good in football and basketball.....i also like the idea of adding a uab or southern mississippi as it would help combat recruiting in the sec as soon as a&m and missouri are gone....

Well stated Tim, you put forward a pretty strong case for the Big 12 to add at least two more teams next year to get ahead of the expansion madness that appears to be coming again to college football. I just think we need to make sure any new Big 12 teams we add in the future are quality programs that will make us stronger, not weaker as a conference.

To really build a bridge to WVU and hold them the Big 12 will need to think big. The SEC could still be in play in a few years. If the Big 12 is serious about going to sixteen, I think they neeed to make a serious raid on the ACC and get teams such as Pitt, Syracuse, Maryland, Boston College (who is already unhappy), VPI and UVA. If it is following the demographics, go for schools in Florida.
