This is just another reason why I have fallen in love with college baseball.
Big time modern day talent with funding levels of college football/basketball from 40 years ago. OSU/OU games are cheap, but you get to see elite players in an elite conference who will get their shot at a 64 team national tournament at the end of the year. I just hope college baseball stays cheap. Unfortunatly, the PAC12 and SEC are having a baseball facilities race. I’m hoping this does not spread to the Big12 and raise prices.

Minimum wage in 1981 was $3.35. Add in parking and food and beer and going to a game back then would have taken over a day’s wages even if a person made a little more. And Oklahoma wages were far worse (average closer to minimum) than they are now.

It’s all relative.

20 years from now people may be laughing at how cheap tickets are now. They could be $7,000 each and only season tickets may be available. If the NCAA allows schools to pay players tickets would probably be this amount.

No body is forcing 85,000 people to shell out for today’s ticket prices for 5 or 6 home games every year. Truth of the matter is, OU could probably raise prices another 20% and not feel it at all (but don’t give them any ideas).

My first Sooner game was OU-UT in 1966 – Jim McKenzie was coach. I was in 8th grade. The ticket was $12 or $15.

In 2005 I paid $6 bucks to go to an Elgin J.V. football game, it still stings. Talk about out of wack!!!

The salarys for football coaches are beyond ridiculous. We will miss garbage men before we miss any football coaches.

1980/81 was my freshman year in college. My tuition at the University of Texas in Austin that year was $4 an hour; an average bill for a 15-hour semester for me was about $350, including all fees. It was a different time!!
