mm14 comments are right on the money. the 2000 championship team wasnt loaded with 4 or 5 star recruits. the defense the last 4or 5 years hasnt been very good. look at coaches we have lost over the years. leach, mangino, stoops, wyatt, wilson, i think that has had a lot of impact. not sure this staff can motivate and coach up these players.

I think you're missing the point I was trying to make. The program is not in good shape like it should be. Competitive Sooner fans are not satisfied with these types of seasons that Ou has had in recent years. The reason Stoops is being questioned by some fans is because he is the one in charge of this football program. He is responsible for the overall success of the program. When the program is not performing at the level that it is supposed to be at, it falls on the head coach. I'm sorry, but these are different players that are coming in year after year with the same problems and same attitudes and we are seeing the same results each season. It can't be a coincident that Ou just keeps getting players every year that can't keep focus, can't attend team meetings, can't keep up their grades, and twitter every stupid thing they think. This has been an on-going problem for many season. If it was just this year, I would keep quiet, but its been season after season. It's ignorant to not admit that Oklahoma football is not where it should be and changes do not need to be made to improve this program. I'm not saying fire Stoops or anyone on the staff. However, I am saying that these coaches need to dig deep this off-season and figure out why Ou is having the same on and off the field issues every year. Then, figure out how to correct it.

Interesting...so Stoops doesn't desire a national title? He did in 2000, but not any of the other seasons? Are you trolling, or being serious?

They say Stoops hates losing, like nothing else in the world bothers him more than losing.

His standards haven't lowered, which is obvious with him dismissing players ("cancers").

OU did underachieve, sucks I know, but these things happen on occasion. Take a deep breath, everything will be fine

I'm not so much concerned with the amount of returning players as I am with the overall attitude of this program. Players, fans, and coaches should not feel proud or satisfied by winning the Insight.com bowl (joke bowl). This was a team that was supposed to be an elite, premier, 1 ranked team and was picked by many experts to win the national title this season. In fact, with the recruiting/talent and tradition at Ou, this should be the expectations every season with the exception of an occasional rebuilding year. The last 3 seasons have not been impressive. The worst part was losing by 34 points to in state rivals this year. This program's expectations are going farther and farther back from where it needs to be. It starts at the top and works it's way down. In other words, until Stoops gets that fire back and desires a title like he did in 2000, the coaches and players underneath him wont work hard enough to be that type of program.

What a joke. You talk like OU is one of the run of the mill programs. Sure their future should be good. With being one od the top programs should come the luxury of recruiting people you can plug into positions left by seniors. You slant everything. You built up Florida State this year to make the schedule seem tougher.Recruit people with some character along with being a blue chipper and OU will have good years every year.Name recognition means alot until you get a bunch of head cases that make you look bad. Look at the OU basketball situation that is rising out of a situation caused by players who were above the university.

I agree. Next year we should be fine, but if a lot of these sophomores leave for the NFL next year....we will have a depth problem and possibly a leadership problem.

Depth? The guys leaving with the exception of Williams were 3rd or 4th on the depth chart! The incoming freshman will do just fine.

In 2010 OU won the Big 12 with Stills, Ikard, Jefferson, Clay, others who were freshman or redshirts.

Good Grief give me a break. Remember this is Oklahoma football were talking 'bout son.

Sounds like the depth will be a problem next year with the suspected defections. And in future years we may be playing with a lot of freshmen. the year after next may be a difficult year.
