I don't think he has to politic his way into the championship game. If OSU whips OU on Saturday and no matter what else happens, I think OSU will get their shot, just because the first Alabama-LSU game was BORING! 6-3! You gotta be kidding me! The OSU-KSU game was very, very exciting and most people in the whole country know that. I think the bowl members know a good match when they see it, but OSU has to complete the final peg to make it happen - beat OU badly!

Hear this Berry. The truth will set you free!!!
To politic with the BCS is futile...just ask Mack Brown. If I was a voter in the polls, I might just vote against the coach who politics. for that reason only.

I am one of the if not OU, ok, I will pull for OSU, but let's all put this in the correct order. OSU has to beat OU first, and if there is a problem which resurrects itself for OSU, it is they talk a good game about 'what if', but for 82X in about 98 tries, they don't beat OU, so about 8 out of every 9 tries, they get a consolation prize, and if the truth be known, about 4 of those 16 losses were inflicted on OU during the reign of the bozos 2, Schnellenberger and Blake.

So, OSU do it and then give Gundy all the lessons you want.

Berry's spot-on here.

Dave, Mike Gundy might know more about coaching than Berry Tramel, but he obviously doesn't know more about delivering a message to an audience.

I'm not a big proponent of politicking the pollsters on behalf of one's team; I'd prefer to let my team's performance do the talking. But Gundy inadvertently politicked for 'Bama.

Even I have paid more attention at times to how much "worse" OSU's loss to ISU was compared to Alabama's loss to No. 1 LSU. Yet it really is true (and perhaps a more salient point) that OSU has a lot more quality wins than the Crimson Tide. If Gundy were to say anything, that should have been his message: "We let one get away at Iowa State, but golly, look at who all we've beaten."

To reach the title game, OSU does need to beat Oklahoma and steal a few votes from Alabama. But more than anything (and I've posted this elsewhere) it seems the holdups are the Harris poll and the USA Today coaches' poll, in which the Cowboys ALSO trail Stanford and Virginia Tech.

Personally, I think the 'Pokes would run Stanford and Va. Tech off the field. But OSU needs to convince Harris Poll voters (many of whom are ex-coaches and former players) and the USA Today poll's current coaches of that. A big Bedlam win would go a long way, and the Orange Nation had better be rooting for Clemson in the ACC title game, too. (A Hokie loss to Clemson would automatically remove them as a roadblock to OSU's moving up in the Harris and USA today polls.)

For OSU, it's win on Saturday (especially big), hope for a Clemson win (or at worst, a close loss) and cross your fingers that you've done enough to at least improve OSU's lot vs. Clemson and Stanford in the eyes of voters. If OSU can rise to No. 3 in the Harris and USA Today polls, they have an outside shot at No. 2 in the BCS (because the computers love them), maybe even if Alabama stays at No. 2 in all the human polls.
