These "wait for the verdict" comments are amusing. Since when did anyone have to wait for a court decision to espouse an opinion? Let's see how your prudence holds up in other situations: "I think slavery is bad, but I'm gonna wait for the courts to decide before I offer any opinions about it." I just heard the "bad answer" buzzer go off in my head before I could even finish my comments. Let's try another scenario. When your teenage daughter tells you that she's not gonna date so-and-so because he's got quite the reputation for bad behavior with girls....are you gonna tell her, "Be fair, give the guy a chance before you make that decision?" There's that buzzer again! Get a clue people and let's not wait for the courts to tell us to use our brains....if it's a blight, get rid of it! And that has nothing whatsoever to do with the law.

This is why the public dislikes the media, at least as it appears in this context. This isn't a rush to judement. This is a hanging within 48 hours. Put the man on administrative leave and let the investigation play out. Even if he is guilty, he deserves a fair hearing. But not in the press, where everyone has an opinion. And everyone wants to be first. There is no responsibility taken and the media is not held to account for it's sensationalism.

Would it not be more prudent for the media to wait for a verdict. Anybody that writes about this dirty laundry, while authoring guilt and innocence, should consider themselves out of bounds. Having the media as a jury for the accused tips the scales of justice. So many accusations, but only one truth. The media should ask themselves, is what I am writing beneficial to society? Stick with the facts, your lemming characteristics are not fitting and highly indicative of what society has become.

ok, first of all bernie fine still has not been proven guilty? this is the new america where someone is guilty thanks to whatever the media, NOT A COURT, says about somebody. and protect his program? are you kidding me? Bernie Fine has been Jim Boeheim's friend for almost 50 years and made those comments after a 2005 investigation that came up inconclusive against the SAME accusations being made by Bobby Davis. It was perfectly natural for Jim Boeheim to defend a life long friend who has already gone under investigation for the same accusations.

We're glad that Bernie Fine has been fired but it's crucial that Syracuse University officials discipline Jim Boeheim for his extraordinarily hurtful recent comments attacking abuse victims.

Boeheim's apology will do little or nothing to 'undo' the harm he's caused. Nor will it deter others from making similarly callous comments in the future.

If the university really wants to move forward, and create a safe climate for abuse victims, it must take decisive action against Boeheim.
