Berry,
Thank you for appreciating our beauty! I know it's been about a year since you wrote this, but next time you come to Manhappiness, take I-35 to Emporia then HWY99 North. It is probably the most scenic route in the state traveling through the Flint Hills, old stone farm houses and miles of old stone-laid fences, especially between Eskridge and Alma. It's a route you will never forget!

Great article Berry. Your article made me feel like I was back in Manhattan and Aggieville for a moment. It seems to me that most sports writers don't take time to actually check out Manhattan and Aggieville, so thank you for doing so and glad that you also like this part of the country.

Berry, great post about the Little Apple. I'm a KSU alumn here in okc. Love listening to you, Al, and the ultimate on my way home from work every day. Next time you head north, go 177 (the salina route just isn't anywhere near as pretty) and eat at So Long Saloon. Try the chipotle blackberry bean dip and you won't be sorry. It's a tiny restaurant, but definitely worth the wait. Just ask my Norman born fiancé what her favorite restaurant is!

What a great article on KSU/Kansas by an OU guy. I'm a KSU fan and married an OU diehard - now living in N.Carolina with the Air Force. We both miss the midwest dearly. Yes - I said that!

Way to go Berry!! You jerk! We have been trying to keep Kansas, the Flint Hills and Manhattan a secret for years and your article is going to set us back considerably. Wonderfully well written and complimentary articles like yours are going to be our ruin. Stick to sports reporting and not travelogues, will ya!!!??

Thanks for such a great article. Visit the Flint Hills sometime in mid April to see all of the spring trees and bushes beginning to bloom.

KSU's campus is one of the neatest looking campuses I've seen in all my years with the native stone buildings stretched out across the hillside. If you like the old architecture and native stone, be sure sometime to visit The Old Post at Fort Riley and the Old Trooper Museum.

Over the years, I've found some neat out of the way places in Oklahoma as well, especially when you aren't looking for them. The Woolaroc Museum comes to mind.

Thanks again for such a neat article.
