Are you really trying to take a shot at Nebraska for being a has-been?

I seem to remember a failed “Bring Back the Bone” campaign and a bungling bit of nonsense with Gibbs, Schnellenberger, and John Blake and OU getting pasted by the ‘Huskers to the tune of 69-7.

the OU administration made a smart hire in Stoops, but don’t think this article couldn’t have been written about a downtrodden OU program a few years back

Instead of panic mode. Expand & grow the conference. Overall it’s better for everyone in this part of the country, unless you like jumping time zones. We’ve hung together before, stay the course.

Is Kansas really terrible at football? They have an all-time .500 record. That’s certainly no Nebraska, but compared to Vandy? Didn’t Kansas just win the Orange Bowl a few years ago? They’ve been to 4 Bowls in the past 7 seasons, so try and pay attention to facts. Please.

If you not aware, Texas state politics have mucho to do with the make up of the Big 12 conference.

And the current governor of your state is going to have a huge say in where A&M plays football.

And there’s also this thing about , what is it , uhhh PUD funds , or something like that, that UT has threatened to take away from A&M if they leave the conference.

I really think Big Tex, you just an uninformed internet snob. I hope you stay down there.

Bigcityintx, you are exactly correct. College football and the state legislature should be entirely separate entities.

And our state legislature has far more important issues than what conference OU plays in .

Do you not get that concept ?

And any legislator who wants to use his position to influence that decision, should be voted out. He’s wasting our time and trying to reappropriate money, based upon college football.

He should be gone.

Don’t you agree with that ?

Maybe if you did not think you were so superior, you might understand those concepts.

BTW, if you were half as smart as you think you are, you might also understand the concept of paragraphs. Its dam hard to read your comment.

And you must be proud, that you had the talent and abilities to move to a big city in Texas. Man, it takes soooo much skill to do that.

These comments are hysterically funny! I left Oklahoma 5 years ago and this is exactly why I could never move back. What I’m getting from all this is that OU football is the more important than being well informed of all other issues represented by a politician? There are countries where people have absolutely no choice in their leadership but you would base your choice on whether or not the candidate was pro OU football?? I love it!! If you ever do spend some time in a big city (no, OKC does not count) you would be pleasantly (or maybe not) surprised that alumni from a wide range of “football schools” work side by side every day with zero animosity and little thought as to what conference their football team might potentially play in.

OU has to stay with Texas, because 3/4ths of OU’s football players come from Texas. There’s no solid recruiting base in the state of Oklahoma.

As far as the culture comment, the SEC sure doesn’t need or want OU. Most football fans in the south can’t believe Barry Switzer is held up as some kind of hero. The rest of the country views him as a low life!

The SEC culture is totally different from Oklahoma. The average SEC fan can name the offensive linemen from the other schools. Most all stadiums in the SEC are larger than OUs!

Wow, I am quite amused at how much disdain Dingleberry has for Nebraska. A stalwart program in its own right that bows to no one whether its win, lose or draw. Nebraska was very close in it’s last two championship appearances of knocking off UT or OU, but it’s amazing how all of a sudden the Huskers are relegated to permanent mediocrity and won’t be competing at an elite level like other traditional powers. That’s okay talk is cheap, and we shall see won’t we?
