There is a very clear trail regarding Bomar, within 24-48 hours of Stoops and OU becoming aware of the situation, he was out.

It didn't come from President Boren, Stoops had already let Bomar before it even got that far up the chain.

Its impossible to monitor every moment of every student's life. And quite frankly, I don't want to live in that world.

Tressel should not have been given the opportunity to resign, and when it's over, the NCAA should hand out the stiffest penalties since SMU on an ohio state university.

Berry,

Don't necessarily agree that Tressel's violations dwarfed those of Carroll.

In Carroll's case, you had the insulated atmosphere of a very very wealthy private school (not that tOSU isn't wealthy, but they are under public scrutiny) throwing an army of lawyers at the NCAA to resist and obfuscate as much as they possibly could both on behalf of the school and their money-maker of a coach. Ultimately, I believe that is the real reason the NCAA dropped the hammer on USC. If they had been compliant rather than confrontational, perhaps their appeal wouldn't have fallen on stone-deaf ears.

Regardless, we will probably never find out the extend of Carroll's involvement in the Bush case or any other violations that occurred or were rumored to occur. Like any good self-preserving rat he jumped that ship at his first opportunity.

Wow, Brian, unless you were there, all we know is what the DOK printed. Whether it happened 5 min. ago or 5 yrs. ago is not the story. Several infractions since then lends to taking action only after being caught, and not thinking you would. Stoops is no Saint, even though you and hundreds of thousands of others think so.

Wow, Robert, are you still worried about that? That was five years ago. Your Sooner hatred is clouding your judgment. OU investigated; the NCAA investigated. This has been well chronicled-- Stoops found out and went to Castiglione and Boren (some combination of the three decided Bomar should be dismissed). But the point is, Stoops went to his superiors when he found out. Unlike Tressel who tried to cover it up.

Now the question is, did Stoop's know about the Bomar situation before it was broke in the news? Tressel put winning first and ethics, school, program and professionalism second. He paid the price for a bad decesion. OSU made the right decesion for him.
