As far as exposure, this is a much bigger deal for ISU than it is for OSU. The Cyclones haven’t had a prime ESPN slot like this in years. OSU is a top 10 program and will probably be televised at least regionally virtually every game. It’s an opportunity to get a little more tv $ and not disrupt your home schedule.

Hethergaard.. I don’t think this concerns OSU/ISU and their respective opportunity for a primetime game. I think any team should be excited about the opportunity to play during primetime… much less when you’re playing a team like Iowa State. If it takes a Friday night game to get a little TV exposure against the Cyclones late in the season, I’ll take it. I like the idea of the rest of the nation getting a chance to watch what should be the #1 offense in college football play their game instead of the game being played early Saturday morning hidden on some paltry channel that you need a subscription just to watch. Might give an extra push for Weeden and Blackmon’s Heisman candidacy at a pivotal point in the season, too. As for your ‘reality check’ comment, that maybe apposite to ISU, but OSU..? I don’t think the Stillwater crew has exactly been hurting for primetime exposure these past few seasons… but then again, I don’t know what ‘reality’ you’ve been living in.

Since all the Big12 under-dog teams have made significant improvement, would not count any team out until the game is finished. Gundy probably has it right; that round robin play this year will improve the conference.I

As much as I believe this game should be a blowout for OSU it will probably be like our Kansas game last year. Gundy will play it safe and try not to get anyone hurt. (which unfortunately wasn’t the case last year with Kansas).

I still for the life of me don’t understand why people are complaining that this conflicts with HS Football. Who cares. Does the NFL not play on Sunday because it conflicts with church? I haven’t been to a HS games since 1998, my senior year.

If you’re OSU or ISU, isn’t any primetime game on ESPN a good opportunity? If someone at either school felt they needed to weight the pros and cons before signing off on this deal then they are in desperate need of a reality check.

On the Iowa HS side, that’s the night of the 4-A finals (they get started earlier up there).
